"Wait so who is this guy?" Veronica was walking into school alongside Elena and Matt. Elena was mentioning a guy 'uncle John' the whole time they were walking and Matt being Elena's ex boyfriend and friend knew who she was talking about right off the bat. By the time they reached Matt's locker she decided to speak up.
"He's my uncle, my dad's brother" Elena answered.
"He's a jerk." Matt said as he shut his locker.
"So is Caroline still baking and bringing food for you guys?" Veronica changed the subject.
"She finally went to her dad's which is a good thing because my mom was gonna strangle her if she brought another lasagna."
The three then laughed with each other before Matt said his goodbyes and went to class leaving the two girls.
"Have you talked to Stefan at all?" Veronica couldn't stop thinking about the night that she caught Stefan drinking blood. It was on her mind 24/7 and though every time she went to see him or call him he would tell her he's fine and he just needed to get some space to get back on track. Stefan didn't know that Cassie and Veronica actually have been communicating a lot with each other and Cassidy has been letting Veronica know that no matter how he says it, Cassie can always tell when he was lying.
"Um not today no. Why?"
"Nothing major. Just asking."

Cassie just got home after eating at the grill with Veronica when she walked in and spotted Stefan downing his whole drink, "Stefan, are you alright?"
"I'm fine Cassie." He wouldn't even look at her.
"No, you're not. You're struggling. I can tell." She walked close to him but he swung his arm away from her.
"I said I'm fine." This time he had more aggression.
"You know, we used to be best friends. I trusted you with my life and you trusted me with yours. I died and got locked in a tomb for years, thinking of you and when I returned, I'm greeted with a man who looks like my best friend but isn't." With that Cassie started to walk away from him.
"I am struggling....but I have it under control. You don't have to worry. And I'm sorry. I've owed you that for a while. I just have spent years mourning you and I feel guilty that you lived that life because of me and Damon. It's not fair. When I look at you, I am reminded of that guilt and it hurts that I'll never be able to make up to you"
Cassidy turns to Stefan and sees the pain in his face. She doesn't blame them for what happened to her, she blames Katherine. She ruined the bond of two brothers and the bond of two best friends. "I don't blame you for what happened. I don't blame Damon either. Katherine was my best friend too. I would've done anything to help her. Even death. That's in the past. Let's move forward okay?"
