"What happened? What did you do?" Stefan asked as he walked into his home and saw Alaric lying unconscious on the floor and his brother sitting in front of the fireplace with a drink in his hand.
"Do what? He attacked me."
"Damon."
"All I did was tell him the truth. His wife didn't want him anymore. Not my fault he couldn't handle it. And you failed to mention that they have a daughter. Little cheekbones, Elena's new sister."
"Like you've been handling Katherine?"
"Oh don't play that card. You're one to talk with how you've completely ignored Cassidy since we got her out of the tomb." Damon's comment brought silence to the room until he continued, "Isobel came to me. You know if she's related to Elena, that's means she's related to Katherine. Maybe Kathrine sent her to me."
"Stop it! You don't have to keep looking." Stefan told his brother with some aggression.
"Cant be a coincidence Isobel sought me out. Nope, can't. I'm assuming you'll take care of this." And with that Damon left Stefan in the room alone with Alarics body.
Stefan sat in the floor next to Alaric. What was he going to do? He had to figure out how to tell Veronica about how her father suddenly died, he was killed by the same man who killed and turned her mother. How was he going to tell Elena that the only man who could tell her about her birth mother was now lying dead in his home.
While sitting and starting to get lost in his own head, Stefan noticed movement in Alarics hand. He slowly moved closer towards Alarics face to look closer when suddenly Alaric jumped forward with loud breathing and grunts while reaching for his chest.
Stefan quickly assisted Alaric helping him sit up when Alaric spoke up, "what happened? What's going on?"
"You were just......Did Damon turn you?" Stefan asked panicked.
"No. I went for him, and then he-he stabbed me." Alaric answered.
"No, no, no. You must have blood in your system. Somebody slipped it to you."
"No. It's uh.....it's something else."
"How?" Stefan wondered as he thought, There's no other option to why Alaric is still alive.
"I...." Alaric paused for a second before he looked down to his ring that he was wearing, "Isobel. This ring protected me. She gave it to me one night and told me that it would protect me from all things. I didn't believe her and made a joke but she was serious."
"That's impossible. Does Veronica have one as well?" Stefan asked as he figured why wouldn't a mother give her daughter something to protect her.
