Chapter 14

Ivan's p.o.v.

          It's been over 6 months since mom, Ray and I moved out of Mr. Mon-dragon's house into the penthouse. That man has very called to check on his wife and in actual fact, it's better. Mom has peace of mind. Exactly what I wanted for her. Lilly and I have become very close but she still wanted us to be just friends. I fall in love with her every single day. Especially when we went to visit the kids at the orphanage.  

****Flashback on the day they visited the orphanage.***

        I was very tired from playing with the kids and carrying them. That was literally the best fun I've ever had in ages. Lilly was still playing with the kids and singing songs for them. She was a ball of energy just like the kids. As usual, I was admiring her angelic qualities and just how loving she is when a felt a tap on my shoulder.

         It was a kid with flowers in his hand. He gave me a very big smile showing his mouth with few missing teeth. He walked around the seat I was sitting on. At first, I would I'd push away from the kid but this time around, I didn't. I gave him a little smile. I've realized these kids wanted me to play with them ever since I've been sending them gifts but they never got the chance.

         "Are those for me?" I asked, gesturing at the bunch of flowers in his hands. He immediately shook his head and said; "these are for Ms. Lilly. These are my favorite flowers and since she's my favorite person, I want to give them to her. But I can give you one if you want." He said. My eyes widened a bit. I mean, these are for Lilly? Is it because she's a lady? I've never received flowers particularly from a kid like this before and here was Lilly's flowers.

          I'm not jealous. I'm just so happy the kids loves her so much. The boy removed one and handed it over to me. With his big smile, I can't deny such great offer. I slowly took the flower from him. I'm not going to lie, the flower is so beautiful. I raised it to study its features when he said; "please come here again with Ms. Lilly. She's beautiful and she's a nice person. If I grow, I'll marry her."

         Even this kid wants to marry her. I shook my head at him and then he got it his signal; "you like her too?" I nodded my head immediately. His mood suddenly changed. "That's too bad. We can't share her."

        "I totally agree with you. We can't share her. She'll be my wife. I'll marry her so I'll be bringing her here more often for you to be seeing her." Of course he'll love that. He immediately agreed with me. As I looked up at Lilly, I just knew I had to make her mine. She's perfect for me.

     Here I was, staring blankly at my Dad's motionless face. That's the expression he likes most. He has called me to come to his house, he claimed. Yes of course it's his and I don't care. I have a house of my own too. I was just sitting opposite his chair and his table was the only thing between us. I just had to come and meet him because he was my Dad even if I never liked him and he provided a living for me till I grew up.

     "Ivan, Ivan. When are you giving me a grandchild?" I knew it. I just knew where this will lead. "Ms. Faye is ready to marry you but you are not. Why are you making this so difficult for her family and for me? You are very much aware of the traditions. Why are you prolonging your marriage? You are old enough." He said clenching his teeth as the words sprung out.

      "I wish not to marry soon Mr. Mon-dragon." All I heard was his fist slamming against his table as he stood from his seat. "Nonsense!" He said. This anger of his is the last thing I want to witness now. Is it by force to marry now? He walked around the table and stood right in front of me, clenching his fist as if he was coming to hit me. He wouldn't dare though.

      "The Rodriguez are on my neck everyday asking me to marry both of you and here you at spilling nonsense? You barely have time for your fiancé. It's all visible. Just set a date to marry her for crying out loud."

       "Then maybe I don't want to marry her. You want a grandchild so bad, allow me to marry the girl I love."I spoke back. It only made him more furious. " Yes, I had my men follow you around. It's Ms. Lilly isn't it? Lilly Wigglesworth, sister in law of Kelvin Wigglesworth." My eyes snapped immediately at him. What does he want now?

       "Yes. As expected. I know all about her. If you don't leave her and marry Ms.Faye, I'll make her miserable." That's it. I stood from my chair facing my dad like a man. I looked closely into his eyes, clenching my fist beside me, then said; "I dont care if you know about Lilly. I'm even glad you know she's the one I love. If you don't back away from her, I promise you and I mean I very much promise you, I'll destroy everything. I'll tell the media everything and you know how they can be. They'll come up with a nice article about how of a disgusting Dad you are. How of an abuser and disgusting husband you are. That alone should be enough to hear the whole city talking about you. Your name will be dragged in the mud. And don't worry, your dirt won't rub off on any of us. Neither Raymond, nor mom, nor me. No one. All will be disgusted by you and I know you are very much aware I'm capable of doing that. Don't try me!!!"

        He looked taken aback a bit and there was only a glimpse of fear in his eyes. Just a little bit but he quickly masked up his annoying stern face and didn't say a word. I went back a bit, bowed to him and left his office, slamming the door behind me. That should teach him a lesson. If my Dad is scared if something, then it's what the media and press will say about him. He values his name and title more than he values his life and that, I'm not joking.

I walked past the front door and into my car. Who does he feel he is anyway? He just annoys me every single day. He didn't even ask of his wife. Which kind of man does that? He's the main reason I'll love to marry someone I love in the first place. I can't be with Faye. I can't destroy her life and my life. I just know I'll never love her and that is an undeniable fact.

Lost in my thought, my phone rung from my pocket. I knew who it'll be. Lilly, my angel. We had plans to hang out today. I quickly plastered a smile on my face as I took three deep breaths to calm myself. That's one thing angel taught me to always help me calm myself.

"Hello angel." I said looking at her gorgeous face as she smiled at me. She sat on the couch and brought her knees to her chest. "Ivan dear, I thought we had plans today. Or you are busy?" I could see a little frown on her face. She just doesn't like to hear that I'm busy after we've planned to hand out and of course I hate canceling our plans.

"Oh no angel. I'm not busy at all. You'll see me right at your door in some few minutes time. Trust me." She nodded immediately. "I'm waiting. Maddie and Violet said hi."
"Tell them I said hi too. See you soon angel. Bye." As I placed my phone down I signaled Romeo to let us go.

"Ivan, look behind you." Romeo said immediately he took off. I did as he told me and what I saw was Faye getting out of her car. They just entered the house. It's as if we've exchanged each other. I'm just glad we left before they came. I smiled at Romeo. He knew that smile. "I'm glad we left right on time too."
