Chapter 6

Cordelia had barely seen Katherine since the incident with her sisters. She knew that she barely knew her and probably shouldn't get involved in her life but she felt bad for the girl.

If Lia didn't have Care and Addy and the help of the core witches she would have been just like Kat. Alone, and always manipulating people to get what she wanted.

Her and Kat were alike in that way. They would survive no matter the cost.

She had heard that she was involved with Mason Lockwood and the elder Salvawhore had murdered him. She thought that was rather aggressive as Mason really hadn't done anything.

Katherine seemed determined to do everything alone and for now Lia would let her. After all she was at this masquerade party and she couldn't wait to make fun of Elena.

Care always complained that she was too mean to Elena but it wasn't her fault. She was just so easy to annoy. One word of out her mouth and Elena looked like she wanted to decapitate her.

She knew Damon and Stefan were planning to kill Katherine but with a couple well planned comments from Addy she felt certain it wouldn't happen.

She saw Stefan staring at her and gave him a wave. He glared and she smirked. He was way too overprotective of his brother and Elena.

She walked over to Care and Addy who were chatting with a bunch of annoying teens from the high school. They looked over at Lia nervously. She didn't mind. If the cost of not being made fun of was being feared she was happy to pay it.

The kids left and Addy sighed. "I don't get why we have to be here. It's all so weird and human."

"That's exactly why you're here. Just pretend to be normal for once."

Addy looked at Caroline like she was crazy. "Why would I want to be normal? Normal is boring."

"Boring is safe."

Lia rolled her eyes. "Safe is overrated and never gonna happen."

Cordelia grabbed a glass of wine and raised it. "As much as I think all of these parties are foolish and single-minded we are going to have fun tonight and ignore all the ridiculous supernatural problems."

Care grinned. "Cheers to that."

For the rest of night they drank and reminisced of the craziest things they'd ever done. When the party was nearing the end Lia told them to leave while she checked to make sure everything went according to plan.

Addy apparated the two of them away. If it was anyone else she would worry about them apparating while intoxicated but Addy was even better at apparating then her and that was saying something.

Cor saw Elena walking away and followed her. She could get the information she needed and annoy Elena at the same time. She was great at multitasking.

"Elena. How was your night? Seems like it was pretty eventful." Lia gave her a once over looking at the blood on her clothes.

"Leave me alone Cordelia. You probably had something to do with this anyway."

"Nonsense. Care, Addy, and I were hanging out all night. I assume this is due to Kit-Kat."

"Do you mean Katherine?"
