Caroline was walking through the halls of the high school with Rebekah at her side. Since she had started hanging out with the original she was constantly receiving glares from Elena and Bonnie.Well, too bad. They couldn't just ignore her and then be mad at her for being friendly. She wasn't going to be mean to Rebekah just because they didn't like her.
She had never tried to stop being friends with them but it was like Elena wanted her to pick between them and her sister. Lia had never liked Elena but she has never tried to stop their friendship. In fact she had encouraged it because she had to go to Hogwarts and she didn't want Care to be alone.
When it was lunchtime she sat down at a table far away from the scooby gang. She tried her best, she really did but she could not handle their hypocrisies.
"You're not going to sit with the doppelgänger and her friends?"
"I really can't deal with them right now. They're mad that I made a deal with Klaus even though it's the only reason they're all still alive but it's more than that too. They've never liked Lia and when they found out she was a witch it was like they were mad that she never helped them even though she didn't owe them anything. And they were mad at me for association and they would ignore me until they needed something and it's all so beyond annoying."
Rebekah raised an eyebrow and Caroline looked back sheepishly. "Sorry for piling on, I'm just so done with them right now."
"It's fine, it was rather entertaining actually."
Caroline rolled her eyes but sent Rebekah a small smile. She knew that she might not have been the best person but Caroline was in no position to judge.
Her sister and best friend had both killed many people and Caroline wasn't innocent herself. Caroline could admit that she was a naturally judgmental person but Lia and Addy had tried to help her learn to not form opinions of someone until meeting them and she tried her best.
Rebekah didn't deserve judgment because of her family or because in a thousand years of existence she had done some bad things. That was practically a given.
And Rebekah had been living with them for a while now and she really wasn't that bad. A bit bitchy but who wasn't really.
After school they had cheer practice. Elena walked over to them and Caroline was immediately suspicious at the look in her eye.
She wanted something but Care didn't know what. Rebekah scowled at the sight of her. "You. Goodie."
"I was hoping we could talk."
"About what? Stefan? Don't worry I'm off him until he starts treating me better. In fact you should probably take a page out of my book, if I'm being honest."
Elena glared before pulling out pictures. There were drawings and different words in a runic Viking language that given she was speaking to Rebekah must have been the Originals first language.
"Actually I'd rather talk about this. I'm curious why you and Klaus have spent a thousand years running from your father."
"Not everyone has a good relationship with their fathers." From the information they had gotten from the Core witches archives and Lia's weekly talks with Henrik, Caroline knew enough about Mikael to understand why they were running.
And while Caroline still wanted to try to have somewhat of a relationship with her father she knew that if Lia had the chance she would gladly kill her father again and Care couldn't blame her for that.
Any parent that wanted to kill their own kids didn't deserve to live.
Elena just glared at her and Caroline went to walk away Rebekah following her. "We have to get back to the girls. Homecoming's right around the corner."
