Chapter 8

Cordelia lay on her bed and let out a huff. She knew Caroline could take care of herself, she really did but was it so wrong that she wanted to protect her.

Lia's entire life she had been trying to protect Caroline and Liz from her enemies. They didn't deserve to be targeted because they share blood with her.

And sure the Salvatore's weren't her enemies but it was the same concept. Lia was used to people trying to kill her. It was no big deal if a few more tried.

She heard footsteps approaching her and she turned around to face Katherine. Cordelia raised an eyebrow and gestured for her to sit down. "What are you here for?"

"I thought I was welcome in your house." She sat down on the bed and gazed at Lia who turned away, not in the mood to deal with Katherine right now.

"I know you want to protect your sister and all but you really don't need to worry. I don't think I've ever met anyone better suited for vampirism before. She could probably destroy the Salvatore's with some training even if they do have a century on her."

Cor finally turned to face her. "And why do you care?"

"I sired her. I have a vested interest in her survival."

Lia continued to stare at her and Kat sighed. "I'm not a good person and I'm okay with that. But with you saying you talked to my sisters well it brought some stuff up. I'd do just about anything to see them again, so I understand your worry, but fighting with her won't keep her alive."

Lia groaned. "I know I shouldn't have gotten mad at her but I've been trying to protect her my whole life and I can't stand the thought of her being hurt. She already was because I was gone and if she died I couldn't live with myself."

"Just talk to her. And if you tell anyone I talked to you about this I'll kill you."

Lia giggled. "I'd like to see you try."

Caroline fiddled with the beads around her neck as she waited for Lia to come into the room and speak to her.

She knew that Cor had never been good at apologizing and she definitely didn't like to admit to being wrong so Caroline ignored her into Cordelia finally entered the room.

"I don't like you being with the Salvatore's. I've spent so long trying to protect you anytime you're not with me I can't help worrying, but you're not a child anymore and I know you can fight. After all you learned from the best."

Care smiled and wrapped Lia up into a hug. "I know you mean well. I love you."

"I love you too. Just be careful."

"Always. You're the one who always ends up in near death experiences."

"I'd say we both have plenty of experience in that."

"Fair. Apparently Elena and the Salvatore's are going to find some vampire to get information on the Originals because they don't trust Addy."

"Typical. Even when we try to help them they refuse. Oh well, let them waste their time. We will be planning. Elena annoys the hell out me but I'm not going to let her die if there's a way I can save her."
