"Kane stop." Jaha told him. "If they wanted to kill us, they would have done it already."
"What? They're gonna kill us?" Nova asked fearful.
"No. It's okay." Jaha told the scared girl. "They're probably not gonna kill us."
"2 days without food or water." Kane stated.
"Come on. How many times on the Ark did we go 2 days without water? This... It's not how our story ends, Marcus." Jaha said. "We wind up in the same train station on the ground... just to die in it? We've still got work to do."
Kane scoffed. "How can you be so sure?"
"My son told me." Jaha explained.
The door opened. 2 guards, 1 man, and 1 girl wearing severant clothes came in.
Kane stood, but Jaha stayed on the ground and the guards started pounding on him.
Nova covered her ears and shut her eyes tight, so she didn't have to witness the violence.
The girl sat down next to Nova. Nova looked up at the girl and she smiled at her.
The man and his guards left, leaving only the women and a knife back in the train station cell.

"They want us to turn on each other." Jaha said looking down at the knife.
"They want justice." The girl said.
"Lives have been lost on both sides." Kane stated. "That's why we need to end this war!" He threw his jacket on the ground.
Jaha got up and walked over to her. He knelt beside her and Nova. "What's your name?"
"Lexa."
"Lexa. I'm Thelonious." Jaha introduced. "This is Marcus." He pointed back at Kane. "and Nova. Your commander spoke of an assassin in a village."
Lexa nodded. "Yes. 18 of our people were murdered. Elders." She looked at Nova and moved a strand of hair out of her face. "Children. The commander also believes you have the women they love, held hostage, because of what they did back up on your Ark."
"We had nothing to do with those things." Kane stated.
"It doesn't matter. The commander thinks you did. One of you 2 must pick up the knife." She told Kane and Jaha. "That is our way."
"And if we refuse?" Jaha asked.
"Then the commander will use it to slit both of your throats." Lexa explained.

Jaha was convinced there was another way. But there wasn't.
Kane grabbed the knife and tried to give it Jaha. He refused to take it. So Kane slit his own wrist.
Jaha begged for Lexa's help. She gave him a towel which he wrapped up his wound.
Jaha put the knife to Lexa's throat and Nova went back to covering her ears and closing her eyes tight.
The commander came in and Lexa elbowed Jaha in the face. Forcing him to let her go, then she put the knife to his throat.
She walked over to the others and they place a singler shoulder pad on her.
"You're the commander?" Kane asked.
"I have learned much about you. It's clear your intentions are honorable. Your desire for peace is true." Lexa said something in her grounder language that got the guards to free him and Nova. "Later we will talk. In the meantime, your friends will be used to send a message."
"No."
Lexa looked at Nova. She put her hand on Nova's cheek. "I'll see you soon little one. But in the meantime, you and Mr Kane here will be well taken care of." She smiled.
