Chapter 18
3x06

Sage was sketching Lexa while she was asleep on the couch in her room. Lexa suddenly jumped awake.

"Hey. Hey." Sage jumped up. "It's okay." She sat down next to Lexa on the couch and put her hand on Lexa's leg. "You're okay."

Lexa panted.

"What was the dream about?"

"The Commanders before me. They speak to me in my sleep." Lexa stated. "I saw their deaths at war, at the hands of an assassin."

"It was just a nightmare."

"No." Lexa protested. "No, it's a warning. They think I'm betraying their legacy. Jus drein jus daun (Blood must have blood) has always, always been the way of our people."

"Listen to me. A stop of war is not a betrayal. What you did on that battlefield stopped a war. Your legacy will bring peace." Sage explained. "And if the commanders in the flame tell you otherwise they're wrong, okay?"

The flame was a chip made by the first Natblida. It was made for Nightbloods only. It was put in the back of the Commander's neck after they win their conclave and is not taken out until they die.

Lexa stood and grabbed her book off the ground. She walked over to the chair where Sage had sat. She noticed the drawing Sage was creating before she had woken.

Sage got off the couch. "Oh, uh." Lexa picked up the sketch. "That's, uh... just a sketch, it's really not anything special. I'm not even very good at drawing, it's just a hobby. And yeah." Sage chuckled, nervously.

There was a knock on the door before Lexa could say anything.

"Enter." Lexa said, putting the drawing down.

Titus walked in. "Pardon me, Heda. I didn't realize you were busy." The guards behind him, lugged in a giant box.

Clarke was behind the guards carrying in the box.

The red head walked up to Lexa's side.

"Are you going to tell me what's in the box or not?" Lexa asked.

"Forgive me." Titus looked back at the box. "This is a gift from King Roan of Azgeda to Wanheda. The messenger said this is both proof of Azgeda's loyalty to the coalition and an answer to a yet unanswered question. May I." He stepped aside so Sage and Lexa could see what was in the box. "Open it." He ordered the guards.

Inside was a beat up Emerson. You know, the guy who was gonna blow up the door to the coms room at Mount Weather before Sage killed all the people on Level 5.

"Emerson?" Sage's eyes widened and she walked over to the box.

He swept under her feet causing Sage to fall to the ground. Then he slammed her head into the ground and punched her face.

"Stop him!" Lexa ordered her guards. They grabbed Emerson and pulled him away from her. "Get him out of here." Lexa knelt down beside Sage. "Put him in a cage now."

Sage got up. "I'm fine." She watched as Emerson was pulled out of the room.

Clarke and Sage walked in after a meeting. Lexa had asked to see the 2 of them.

"Here they are." Titus said, not appearing too happy to see them.

"Wow, Titus, I thought you would be more happy to see me." Sage said sarcastically.

"You wanted to see us Commander?" Sage asked.
