A week after she moved in to her apartment, she became a part-time babysitter for Christopher. Carla wasn't always able to babysit him, and he really liked being over at Meredith's. She had a small gaming room that she'd let him hang out in. He loved playing Mario Kart, since she had a steering wheel that he could use.
After about a month of knowing Eddie and Christopher, she told them she was pregnant. They were both happy for her, and Christopher loved asking questions about the baby. Every day he seen Meredith, he would ask if he could feel the baby moving yet, or if the baby kicked, or if she knew the gender.
Her belly wasn't too big yet, but her clothes were definitely tighter. She had a small bump, but she knew as her pregnancy progressed, it'd be harder for her to hide. It wasn't like she was trying to hide it, she just hadn't told her brother or sister about the baby yet.
"Your dad should be here soon," Meredith told Christopher,"You wanna order a pizza for dinner?" She asked, and he nodded.
"Did Dad tell you he was coming home by dinner?" Christopher asked, causing Meredith to smile.
"He texted me that he'd be on his way back in an hour, about an hour ago." She replied, making him smile.
Meredith grabbed her phone and ordered two pizzas. She figured whatever they didn't finish could go home with Eddie and Christopher. Eddie happened to meet the pizza guy on the way up, and he paid for the pizza, before he opened the door to Meredith's apartment and brought in the pizzas.
"Pizza is here!" He announced, and Meredith stepped out of the kitchen with bottles of water in her arms.
"Let me grab my wallet--" She began, but he cut her off.
"I got it," He said,"I met him on the way up, and paid."
"Crap, it was supposed to be a surprise for you." She complained, and Eddie rolled his eyes.
"Go sit down, and let me get the plates." He retorted playfully, causing her to roll her eyes back at him.
Eddie was like the older brother Meredith should've had. He was protective and kind, and he always thought of others before himself. He was nice to her, and he helped her out when she needed him. She was there for him, too, him and Christopher. They were practically family at this point. Even Meredith's father knew about Eddie and Christopher. Johnny had sent the newest racing game he could find, so Christopher had something else to play on Meredith's gaming set up.
"Dad's planning to visit next week. He wants to meet you and Christopher officially." Meredith commented, and Eddie nodded.
"It'd be cool to meet him," Eddie replied,"Christopher still wants to meet Iron Man though."
"He's busy," She said,"but him and Dad are practically best friends, so I might be able to get him over one day."
Meredith turned on the first Spider-Man movie with Tobey Maguire. While Christopher enjoyed the movie, Meredith enjoyed the food. Ever since she hit her third month, she started to really love food. Not all food loved her, but she was supposed to eat healthy, and it wasn't always easy.
"Oh, we're having a dinner at the station Friday. Bobby said we should bring our families, and I mean, you're like my sister, so I figure you could come. You could bring Christopher, and if we get an emergency call, you can take him home." Eddie said, and Meredith shrugged.
"I can do that," She replied,"What do you want me to bring?" She asked, making Eddie chuckle.
"Bobby's cooking." She answered, causing her to give him a look, and he smirk.
"I'm sorry, I should know you like to bring stuff yourself," He commented,"You can bring anything you want. The guys really like desserts."
"I can do that," She nodded,"and don't get sassy with me, Edmundo, I'll take away your pizza." She retorted, and he laughed.
After the Spider-Man movie ended, Eddie decided it was time for him and Christopher to go home. They had an early morning the next morning because Christopher had a doctor's appointment. He didn't want to go, but Eddie made sure to tell him it was important.
"Will you go with us, Mery?" Christopher asked quietly, as he hugged Meredith,"I don't like the shots." He murmured, making the woman frown.
"I don't know, Chris, your dad might just want it to be you and him. I mean, it is a doctor's appointment." She replied, and his bottom lip began to tremble.
"Dad, can Mery please come tomorrow?" Christopher asked,"I want her there because she could make me not scared of the shots." He explained, and Eddie looked at him with a quizzical expression.
"How could she make you not scared of shots more that Dad?" Eddie asked, causing Christopher to grin.
"I gotta be strong for the baby," He replied,"I don't want the baby scared."
Meredith felt her heart skip a beat at his sweetness. He was absolutely adorable, even brought a tear to her eye. She really loved this boy.
"Do you wanna go?" Eddie asked, looking up at Meredith,"I don't want you feeling like you have to go because he asked." He said, causing her to smile.
"I'll go," She replied,"Just come by and wake me up. You've got a key for a reason."
Christopher was happy when he left that night. Meredith wondered if he was really that scared that he needed initiative to not be scared of the shots. She remembered when she was his age, and she was terrified of shots. Her father could only make her calm down if he sang to her, but she had a feeling Eddie wasn't going to do that. She just hoped that Christopher didn't cry, because with her hormones, she'd probably cry to, or punch the doctor, and she really didn't want to do the latter...
