Two days ago, Johnny had come to stay with Buck and Meredith, since Meredith's due date was soon. He wanted to make sure that he was there when she went into labor. He wanted to be there the day his grandson was born. He wanted to be there to support her, and she was thankful for him.

Buck and Johnny went around the apartment making sure everything was baby-proof, though the baby definitely wouldn't be old enough to be getting into trouble anytime soon. Buck had packed the diaper bag for the baby, and he packed a bag for Meredith. Johnny mentioned that Buck should pack a bag for himself, considering he'd be staying at the hospital with her. Bobby had all ready given him two weeks vacation, which didn't include the two or three days he'd be in the hospital with her and the baby. Those days were a part of their own section of maternity leave.

Anyhow, this morning Meredith woke up feeling like her body was more sore than usual. She didn't seem to think anything of it at first, but as the day went on, she began to realize that she wasn't in a normal sore state. Actually, randomly she would get a strong pain in her lower belly and her back. The pain was similar to what the woman described in the birthing classes, except quite a bit more intense as the day went on.

Meredith had decided to get a shower to try and get the pain to go away, or at least ease up a bit. Throughout the shower, Meredith wasn't feeling any better, but it didn't really get worse either. She was able to wash her hair and body without any real problems. She dried herself off in the tub, and wrapped her hair in a towel. When she bent over to finish drying her legs, she felt pressure, before a gush of liquid rushed down her legs. Her eyes widened when she looked down and realized what had happened. Quickly, she wrapped her towel around her body, so she could cover herself up.

"Buck! Dad!" She yelled, as pain rushed through her again.

"What?!" They exclaimed, as they rain into the bathroom.

"You're not dressed." Buck commented, staring at her wide eyed.

"My water just broke," She retorted,"I need help."

"Buck, help her clean up and get dresse d. I'll get the bags down to the Hummer and call Eddie." Johnny stated, and Buck nodded.

Once Johnny was gone, Buck turned on the water, and Meredith had him wipe down her legs with soap and water. As soon as she was clean, he took her towel and dried her off. He then grabbed a dress and pulled it over her head. He also helped her slip on some shoes, and took her hair out of the towel. He put a messy braid in her hair, before he lead her down to the Hummer.

"Eddie's going to meet us there with Maddie," Johnny commented, as he drove them to the hospital,"the rest of the team is going to try to be there, but they don't want to promise, since the day's been real busy."

As soon as they arrived at the hospital, Buck helped Meredith out of the Hummer. Johnny went and found a parking spot close by, as Buck got a nurse for Meredith. Because her water had broke, they brought her directly to a room, but that was only because they had a room available. If they hadn't, they would've made her wait.

Johnny was able to find the room a few minutes later, and surprisingly Eddie and Maddie were with him. They gave her words of encouragement, before they all left the room to give her some privacy. The three went to the giftshop in the hospital to buy some things for the baby, as well as for Meredith and Buck. They also picked themselves up some food, since they weren't sure how long it would take Meredith to have the baby.

About three hours later, Meredith was ready to give birth. Eddie called Hen, and about thirty minutes later, the team was there with Christopher. About thirty minutes after that, Buck came out to invite everyone to meet the baby. He had a huge smile on his face, and anyone could tell just how happy he was to be a father.

"He's so tiny." Christopher said, as he peered down at the baby in Meredith's arms.

"I know, but he'll get bigger. Y'know, at one time you were this tiny, too." Meredith replied, and the boy laughed.

"He really is perfect, Meredith." Hen said, making Meredith and Buck smile.

"Thank you." Meredith answered, as she smiled down at her little boy.

"What's his name?" Chimney asked, looking between the two new parents.

"Well, everyone, I'd like to introduce you to Evan John Buckley." Buck stated, with a huge grin on his face.

Not too long after, the team had to leave for a call, and Maddie offered to take Christopher with her until Eddie was ready to leave. Once everyone had left, other than Johnny and Eddie, the new parents looked at each other and subtly nodded.

"Eddie, how would you feel about being the godfather to little Evan?" Meredith asked, and Eddie looked at her with wide eyes.

"Are you serious?" He asked,  causing the two to nod.

"Of course, you're the best person we know." Buck replied, making Eddie smile.

"I'd be honored to be his godfather." He said, and the parents smiled.

Meredith passed Evan to Buck, letting him hold the little boy some more. Seeing the love in Buck's eyes as he looked down at the little boy in his arms made Meredith's heart swell. She knew she had made a good choice. He was the love of her life, and he was the perfect father for Evan. Evan was his little man, and no matter what, Buck would love him and cherish him with every inch of his heart. Meredith and Evan were his whole life, and he'd sell his soul if that meant he could keep them in his life forever...
