A few weeks after her health scare, Meredith had another appointment to check on her baby. She wanted to keep the gender a secret and throw herself a gender reveal party. Eddie took care of that though, he had mentioned Meredith's idea, and Hen refused for the girl to throw her own. She felt like it was a little sad for her to throw her own, so they were going to throw her one at the station.
Hen, Athena, and Maddie worked together to get everything perfect for the party. Bobby decided to cook, since he knew how much Meredith loved his food when she visited the station. The girls considered getting games together to play, but they didn't want to do too much. Meredith technically didn't have a baby daddy, even though Buck was stepping up to be one for her, but she hadn't quite trusted it completely yet.
For the games, they decided to do a baby bottle game, where everyone had to try and finish the drink in the bottle, and the first one to finish would win. Another game was getting baby dolls and trying to be the first one to get the baby changed. Hen and Athena would be the judges, since they had children. The last game was a blind baby food taste test. None of the food would have labels on them, but numbers would be written on the sides, so later they could figure out who guessed the most right answers.
Christopher was staying with a baby sitter, as was Athena's kids, and Hen's son. Eddie helped with the finishing touches for the party, before he sent a message to Buck for him to bring Meredith to the station. He stayed by a window watching for them, so he could tell everyone when they arrived. Maddie had gone out and bought an outfit for Meredith to wear, so she could free her belly if she felt comfortable enough to do so.
"Why am I wearing a blindfold?" Meredith asked, as she sat in the passenger seat of Buck's car.
"It's a surprise, I can't tell you anything." He replied, causing her to pout.
It didn't take long for them to arrive at the station, and Eddie was quick to whistle and get everyone's attention, letting them know that Meredith and Buck had arrived. Buck carefully lead Meredith into the station, then slowly pulled off the blindfold.
"Surprise! Baby shower!" Everyone exclaimed, and Meredith gasped.
"Oh, you guys. This is so sweet." She commented, trying to hold in happy tears.
"Buck said you're hungry, so we'll eat first, then we'll play some games, and at the end, we'll find out what the baby will be." Maddie said, and Meredith simply smiled.
Meredith was told to take a seat, and Maddie fixed the girl's plate. There was plenty of finger food, as well as little desserts and snacks that were piled on her plate. Meredith felt so happy and excited about the party. Nobody was going to tell her that Hen and Maddie had called her brother and sister, but neither felt like it was worth caring about. Meredith's father wanted to come, but he had last minute scenes to film before the movie was finished.
After eating, Maddie and Hen began to pass out the baby bottles to start the first game. The bottles were full of apple juice, Meredith's favorite drink. Bobby counted it down, before everyone began to try and chug what was in the bottles. Turned out, chugging from a baby bottle wasn't easy, but Maddie and Meredith finished at the same time, and they finished first.
The next game was fun as well, but Meredith finished first, and Eddie was a close second. It seemed like she had really good motherly instincts. The last game, the baby food taste test, wasn't as easy. A lot of the food had a similar taste, and some of the food was absolutely horrible. In the end, Chimney was the one to get the most points, which was a big shock to everyone.
"For the gender reveal, we got these little cannons that shoot out glitter and baby powder colored in the color for the gender," Maddie commented,"Since we bought two, we figured you'd like it if Buck did it with you, since he's your boyfriend."
Maddie and Meredith held eye contact for a moment, before Meredith nodded with a small smile on her face. Buck had been there for so many things, and Meredith wanted to let him have this experience as well. He was practically the baby's daddy, she just wasn't sure if that's what he wanted in the end.
Maddie handed a cannon to Meredith and a cannon to Buck. Everyone in the room counted down from three to one, before the two twisted the bottom of the cannons. In seconds, blue glitter and powder shot out and rained over them, which made sense as to why Maddie had picked for them to wear white. The powder and glitter covered their shirts, decorating the white color.
"It's a boy!" Eddie yelled, and everyone cheered.
"We've got a special cake. The inside is blue for you." Athena commented, and Meredith grinned.
She was so happy to be having a little boy. Truth be told, she wanted a boy a little more than she wanted a girl, but she would've been happy either way. She was even more happy that she had gotten to share the moment with Buck. He had shared so many baby moments with her, and this one was extra special. She couldn't wait to meet her little boy, and deep down, she really hoped that Buck felt the same way she did...
