For a second I just stand there, watching in disbelief as Jasmina spins and flips, glittering against the black of the night sky.
Then I snap out of it.
I dive inside and run for cover.
The car comes crashing through the wall. The sound is deafening. The house groans.
I run through the foyer and livingroom, screaming.
"HELP! HEEELP!"
But no one answers.
She's going to kill me, I think. I'm about to die.
Then I smell something. Something weird. Then I hear something. A hissing. Trembling, I cautiously look out one of the windows.
No. No.
She set the house on fire.
I have to get Cleo. I have to get her out of here.
I practically fly up the stairs to my room. But Cleo isn't anywhere to be found.
"Where are you?" I ask her, frantically.
"I'm here."
"Where?"
"Here! I'm scared." She's too scared to move. I can feel it.
"Show me where you are!"
"I'm going upstairs!"
An image flashes through my mind of the stairs to the attic.
"NO!" I tell her. "STAY WHERE YOU ARE!"
"I CAN'T!" she screams back. "I HAVE TO GO!"
The smoke is getting thicker by the second. I try to make my way to the attic stairs, but I'm coughing and choking all the way. I stop at one point and fall to the floor.
The smoke is too thick.
I lie there, coughing.
Everything fades to black.
