NASREEN
Algiers, Algeria.

I thought all of this was going to be so weird, you know, going home with Aamir on the first day. But he has been so caring, Alhamdulilah, for someone like him. After we have lunch, we proceed to pray two voluntary rakaahs before sitting to talk to each other.

I don't notice the tears I've been trying to hold in have been flowing until he speaks up, "Why are you crying, Nasreen? Is something wrong?" He questions me, taking the seat beside me. I nod in the negative and quickly wipe away my tears.

"Don't lie to me; we're supposed to be a team now, so what's wrong with you is also wrong with me, and vice versa." He pushes, placing his hand on my hand.

"It's not really serious; I'm just a really emotional person, so I cry a lot." I said trying to smile. "Well, that isn't going to change my mind about knowing what's wrong with my wife." He says smirking this time around.

"I was just thinking of Abu and Umm and how they must be coping with everyone going back to their houses today. And this is the first time I won't be home to make them their evening tea, to look for Abu's trouble, or to ask Mama for a hair massage." I rant.

"I understand you, but who says you can't go over and see them tomorrow and whenever you want to, plus you can trouble me, and I'd love to be your new hairstylist? I've seen Ommi do Aman's own a few times, and I'm pretty sure I'm a pro at it by now. And we can make every evening our own tea time, agreed?" He asks, stretching out his hand for a handshake.

"Agreed" I giggle, entwining my hand with his, and he surprises me by pulling me in for a hug. "Everyone will be fine. Nasreen, change is the only constant thing in life; all it takes is a little adjustment, and we'll be fine, Insha'Allah." He whispers, and I nod.

I think agreeing to marry this man has got to be one of the best decisions I've ever made. We stay in each other's arms for a while until I start dozing off. Just as I'm about to move away, he adjusts the two of us and places my head on his chest while using his other hand to support my back.

"I know you're sleepy. Go to sleep. I'll wake you when it's time for Magrib." He assured me, so I do just that. I immediately close my eyes and doze off to the best sleep I've ever had in some time.

I think sleeping right here is about to be my favourite thing to do in the whole world. Being here in his arms feels like having your own personal blanket and teddy. I might as well make him promise me that I will fall asleep like this every day from now on.

This man is spoiling me too much, if I might say so. I wake up almost an hour later, and he's also asleep, so I readjust my head and go back to sleep too. Best day ever!
Alhamdulilah.
