"Hi, Grandma!" Rory and I greeted. We hugged Emily then walked inside.

"Hello, Lorelai," she turned back to Lorelai. I looked at Rory. There had been an obvious change in her voice. Happy and excited to deep, dark and depressed.

"Hi, Mom. How are you?" Lorelai.

"Fine. How are you?"

"Good, good," Lorelai said.

For a few seconds, we stood in silence. You could cut the tension with a knife.

Then we followed Emily into the den, where Richard sat with a newspaper.

"Hi, Grandpa," Rory said to him.

"Hello, Rory. I haven't seen you in a while! Would you like some newspaper?"

"Don't mind if I do!" He handed her a section of the paper and the two sat cross-legged on the sofa.

It was already more awkward than I thought it was going to be and we had only been there for five minutes.

Finally, Emily spoke up.

"Lorelai, how is work?" She asked.

Lorelai turned to her. "It's been fine. How is the D.A.R?"

"Fine."

Then, the maid walked in. "Mrs. Gilmore, dinner is ready."

"Who is the new maid?" I asked.

"That's Ariana. She's already getting fired," she sighed, grasping her drink.

That was one thing that always disgusted me. How Emily had a new maid per day.

"Mom, this food is amazing!" Lorelai said, clearly trying to please her mother. "What is it." Rory grimaced. Lorelai probably shouldn't have asked that. It's always some foreign bird or something that only tastes good when you don't know what it is.

"Actually, don't answer that, please. I would like to enjoy it." Good. She caught herself in time.

Moments later, the maid came in carrying dessert. I looked at Rory as Ariana took our plates away.

"Mom, I don't think Lucy and Rory were done," Lorelai cut in. Emily looked at us.

"Are you two done?" Emily asked. I nodded shyly. As did Rory. "See Lorelai, they're finished.

Lorelai sighed and muttered something underneath her breath.

"Were you muttering, Lorelai?" Emily asked.

"Please, Emily. Don't start anything," Richard sighed. Emily ignored him.

"Nothing, Mother. I was just saying that it's very typical of you to be tyrannical or bossy or....I could go on for hours."

"Well I may be rushing them, but at least I'm not barging and stealing your granddaughter!"

Lorelai scoffed. "I don't want to start anything, but she was mine first!"

As the argument continued, I scooted closer to Rory.

"They're talking about you, right?" She asked. I nodded and continued to eat my unidentified meat.

"I can't believe her!" Lorelai scoffed as Emily closed the door behind us. After Richard had settled down Lorelai and Emily, he talked to Emily in the kitchen and the rest of the night had been surprisingly PG.

"I mean, you did kind of start the fight," Rory trailed off.

"How?" She asked as we got into the jeep.

"You were listing her flaws on your fingers!" I laughed. "She was pretty tame before that."

"Not with the cold shoulder she was giving me!"

"Well, it's your mother. You should know that's normal. I mean, not for her grandchildren," Rory said, flipping her hair conceitedly.

"Fine, maybe I did start it. But I have a feeling she's going to be the one to start stuff in the future."

"Do you want to come over to my house today?" I asked Lisa.

"Sure, but isn't your house a little crowded right now? They started construction on your room, right?"

I nodded. "Yeah. I guess we could go to Luke's?"

"Great! Let's go!'

We ran across the street to the diner. When we got they're, we took two seats at the counter.

"Hey. Usuals?" Luke asked as he wiped down the counter. Lisa and I nodded. I pulled out my math homework.

"No way you're doing homework now?" Lisa scoffed.

"I want to have free time when I get home, not stress over my least favorite subject," I murmured.

Lisa shrugged. "I guess I'll do work too." She pulled a bottle of nail polish out of her backpack.

"That's looks so hard," I added sarcastically.

"Harder that it looks!"

I spent the next few minutes doing my work over a burger with onion rings. I think I had officially learned to eat like a Gilmore girl.

After we finished our meals, we went to the bookstore. I pulled out a list Rory gave me.

"Do you see that?" I asked Lisa.

"If He Had Been With Me?" She asked. I nodded. She went up to the clerk.

"Andrew do you have If He Had Been With Me?" The man led us to a section.

"It should be right down there."

"Thanks," I said.

Once we left the store, I said goodbye to Lisa.

It started to get dark. I quickened my pace. I texted Lorelai to order food without me. It wasn't a long walk, but five minutes at least.

Then, a boy throwing a football threw it towards me. I didn't see. The other boy didn't see me. He fell onto me.

Not again.

"Oh my god, I am so sorry! Here, do you need help?" The boy helped me up.

"It's fine." I looked at him. It was the shaggy hair boy.

"I'm so sorry. Are your clothes ruined?"

"No. I'm fine."

"Hey, you're the new girl, right?" He asked. I said yes.

"I'm Leo. You're Lucy, right?" I nodded and checked my watch. Time to go.

"Sorry, I have to go. See you at school." I quickly ran away. Why did I do that? What's wrong with me?
