My first near death experience—life flashing before eyes type stuff—was when a piece of the diner almost fell on me from above. I should sue him, but then Lorelai would be deprived of her coffee.
"Oh my god!" I scream as some dust and little bits of building fell into my coffee.
"Oh, lord. Are you okay?" Luke asked, sounding very concerned.
"No, we're not okay! We almost were killed!" Lorelai shrieked as Luke came over to us.
"Oh, c'mon on. Stop being dramatic," he said. "Just go out. I might actually shed a tear if you three were crushed."
"Awwww," Lorelai teased, "he cares about us."
As we were leaving, I saw Jess in my peripheral view. I smiled and waved. He saw me and paused. But in the end, he kept on walking.
Lorelai was going to a spa with Emily. Lorelai was going to a spa with Emily and leaving Rory and I home alone.
We were in Lorelai's room, helping her pack, as she ended the call with the people from the spa.
"Yes," she said like a witch cackling.
"That was an evil 'yes'," I commented, folding up a sweater and placing it in her suitcase.
"Yes it was," Lorelai replied. "I have successfully switched all of my appointments for the weekend so I just miss my mother coming out of her's. I've never felt more diabolical."
"Well, whatever makes you happy," Rory sighed.
"Yeah. So let's talk about you two now. What's the plan for the weekend? What time are the bikers and lowlifes coming?"
"Well," Rory began, "we were really just going invite Lane and Lisa to watch some movies, but Lane is being held captive by her mom again and Lisa couldn't find someone to watch CeCe, so it's just me and Lucy watching movies."
"Really?" Lorelai frowned. "Lucy, please tell me she's joking."
I chuckled. "I mean, we are eating Indian food, which we know you hate."
Lorelai sighed. "I guess that counts for something."
"Next time, we'll invite the bikers and lowlifes," I promised, leaving the room the answer the door.
"Omg!" I heard Rory gasp. She must be looking out the window like I am, because what was outside was definitely gasp worthy.
Outside, in our driveway, stood Emily next to a long black limo car. "Well, hello!" She greeted as I ran outside, followed by my sister and mother.
"Are we going to the prom?" Lorelai joked.
"This weekend is supposed to be calming, right? So I thought it would be only right that neither of us drive!"
I went over to Emily and handed her bag as Lorelai and Rory hugged goodbye.
"Bye, sweetie," Lorelai whispered to me. "Be bad for Mommy."
I nodded. "I'll try."
"Here are you quizzes from yesterday," Mr. Riorson said, placing the paper on our desks. I got an A, which is what I expected from a book quiz.
The teacher took a moment to look around the classroom before saying, "Where's Jess?"
God, just the sound of his name made my heart flutter. Jess had been avoiding me ever since out kiss. I saw him walking to school yesterday, he saw me, then went in the other direction. I didn't know what was up with him, but it wasn't anything good.
