"Lucy! Get up, it's time for school!" Yelled my alarm clock. I opened my eyes to see that Lisa was already changed and everything.
"What time is it?" I asked groggily.
"Seven. By the way, where were you last night? Your were really late."
My eyes widened. Last night. I had almost forgotten. I then noticed that my hands were still shaking and my mascara was running. I hadn't even changed out of my clothes from last night.—a horrible reminder of everything that went on.
"Lucy?" Lisa called. "You have to go."
I nodded and slowly stood up. "Well, I'm already dressed, so bye." I kissed CeCe on the forehead then went downstairs.
Then, Mrs. Marren came from the kitchen. "Lucy? Are you all right? You're shaking."
I bit my lip to stop the tears. "Yeah, I'm okay, Mrs. M."

I got to homeroom just in time for Ms. Ryan to call my name. "Lucy?"
"Here!" I yelled out, exasperated. The teacher continued to go through the list, somehow skipping over Jess's name.
When she was done, Ms. Ryan placed the clipboard on her desk and clasped her hands together. "I have some...news for you all. Jess is no longer attending Stars Hollow High. He was withdrawn last night. I know this may be new information for a lot of you, but us teachers only found out last night."
First, I thought my hearing had gone to crap, then I realized that it hadn't and she really had just said that Jess was gone. After that, I could feel my heart shatter.
He couldn't be gone.
He couldn't be gone.
He couldn't.
He just couldn't.
Then, suddenly, heartache overcame me and I jumped out of my chair.
"Lucy!" Ms. Ryan called. "Where are you going?"
I ignored her. I ran out of the classroom all the way over to Luke's.
"Tell me you didn't!" I screamed at him. I didn't care that the entire town was staring at me. I didn't care one bit. "Luke, tell me. Please!"
"Lucy," Luke began, using me into the back room. "I'm sorry."
"You didn't! You didn't," I whispered, tears streaming.
"I'm so sorry, Lucy. Enough was enough. He wouldn't listen." Luke sounded sincere. And he was. This much I knew. But I just couldn't believe it.
I fell to my knees and stated sobbing. Jess was the only person who knew about last night. The only person who could help me...and now? He was gone.
I didn't go back to school after that. The next day, Lisa, CeCe, and I were heading to Luke's, where an unfamiliar sign greeted us.
"It's closed," I said to Lisa. And I had a bad feeling it was the product of me yelling at him yesterday. For some reason I couldn't fathom.
"I can see and it's not making any sense to me either," my friend replied.
"Luke's is closed. Has he every been closed?"
Lisa shook her head. "I don't think so."
I shrugged. "Guess we'll just be coffee-less for today."
