"It still hurts!" Lorelai complained, picking at her bandaged hand that she got from attempting to clean the gutters.

"Do you need stitches?" Rory sighed.

"Probably."

"Then you should go to a doctor," I suggested.

"No," Lorelai gasped. "Doctors are evil! You go into a hospital and you never come out again."

I shook my head. "I don't have time to deal with this right now. I'm gonna go to Lisa's."

"Tell CeCe hi for me!" Rory called after me.

I ran to the Marren's house and rang the doorbell. "Hello?" I called after no one answered. Then, I heard the distinct whine of CeCe's crying. "Lisa?"

"Coming!" My friend answered back. Then she opened the door. "Hi," she drawled, "come in!"

I closed the door behind me and took off my shoes. "How's it going?"

"Great, great. Never been better," Lisa smiled and I followed her into the room where CeCe was in her bassinet.

"Hi, Little Lucy," I cooed.

"Lucy!" Lisa scolded. "You're not supposed to baby talk to them!"

I huffed. "Let me have my fun." I turned back to CeCe. "So how's newborn life treating you?" Her only response was a spotty gargle. "That well?"

"You want to know how newborn life is?" Lisa asked, flopping down on the couch. "It sucks. I haven't slept at all, it's so much work, and I haven't even been able to do any homework that the teachers sent over."

I raised my eyebrows. "Did you not know any of this?"

Lisa made a pouty face. "I thought the movies exaggerated."

"Hey, do you want to go out? The three of us can go around town, get some compliments on CeCe, and go get something at Luke's. I think Mom and Rory are there now."

"Sure," Lisa shrugged. "Anything to get me out of the house."

I took CeCe out of the bassinet and put her in a stroller.

"Ah!" Lisa exclaimed as we moved down her street and towards the diner. "Fresh air!"

When we got to the diner, Lorelai and Rory were seated and we joined them.

"CeCe!" Lorelai squealed. "Awwwww, she's so cute."

CeCe was cute. With her light blue eyes and light hair, she looked exactly like her parents.

"Where's Luke?" I asked, looking around the diner.

"I don't know. Storage room?" Replied Rory as CeCe was playing with her finger.

"Oh no," Lisa gasped. "Caesars cooking."

My eyes went wide. "What? No. I will not have it. It's CeCe's first time at the diner, and she will not be smelling Caesar's food."

"Wait here," Lorelai told us, then she went upstairs. Next thing I know, Luke was downstair making us pancakes.

"Hey, was Jess up there?" I asked Lorelai as she sat down again.

"No. Why?"

I shrugged. "Nothing. I just wanted to talk to him about something."

That night, we were having ice cream sundaes. Lorelai sent Rory off to get toppings, while her and I went to Luke's because we saw him looking very lonely and sad through the window.
