38| What's Love?

Past Tiffany's POV

"Tristan! What's this?" I said as I took the hand-wrapped gift out of his hands, "It's so small and cute!" 

"Open it, I think you'll like it!" 

Slowly, I unwrapped the gift. It was a necklace and a pair of earrings, the perfect gift for a girl like me. 

"You forgot the ring!" I exclaimed, "How could you perfect the ring?" 

"The ring will come later, Tiffany. Do you like it?" 

They were both gold plated. The earrings each had a small gem and they were studs. The necklace was a heart with a little "T" engraved on it. 

"I love them." 

I hugged him and put the necklace on. I took out the backing of my old earrings and put the new ones in. 

"I got them custom made. The little gems are real, they are your birthstone." 

I smiled and thanked him again. But I couldn't help but wonder, did I ever do anything like that for him? I never did. 

"Hey, Tristan. What things do you like?"

"You don't know what I like?" 

"Of course I do!" 

"Then why ask?"

I didn't know what he liked so, I sent Hinata out on a task: To find the perfect gift for Tristan. 

The next day, I gave Tristan a small box. Hinata never told me what he had bought but I hoped that Tristan would like it. 

"Tiffany! You actually remembered?" 

"Yeah, of course I did! I'm your girlfriend, after all!" 

I peered into the box. It was a small duck that lit up when you pressed a button on the bottom. 

He hugged me, "I love you, Tiffany." 

I felt bad for lying but I honestly had no idea what his interests were, "Tristan, why do you like ducks so much again?" 

"I already told you." 

"Yeah but tell me again! It was such a touching story." 

"It really wasn't." 

"Just tell me." 

He proceeded to talk about how as a kid, his dad would take him to feed the ducks. I covered my yawn and he seemed so happy talking about them. 

I could've said a lot of things such as, "I love eating duck" and "I hate ducks, they quack too much" but I didn't. 

I liked seeing him smile.
