Carlos's POV
Finally, I was able to find the hotel that Tristan was staying at. I only had one problem: Find a way to get into Tristan's room without the school kicking me out.
I took the elevator to the floor written down on the piece of paper and found the room. I gently knocked on the door but no one answered. I was about to turn around but someone opened the door.
Benjamin Johnson but everyone thought his real name was Ben.
"Hey, Ben. Is Tristan here?"
He shrugged, "I just came up here to get my shoes. I'm leaving now."
"Is Tristan somewhere else?"
"He said that he felt sick but I haven't seen him in here. You can wait for him, though. He'll probably be back soon."
He brushed himself past me and I walked in. He didn't question me so I just assumed that he thought I still went to their school.
I could hear the water turn on in the bathroom. Creak. Thud. Someone else was there but I didn't know who.
But as soon as I heard singing, I knew it was Tristan. He was singing "Bad Romance" by Lady Gaga at the top of his lungs. I could hear every voice crack but other than that, he sounded good.
"You're in love, Tristan?" I yelled. I began to laugh as I heard another thud in the bathroom.
About ten minutes later, Tristan came out of the bathroom. His hair was wet, his fringe covering his eyes and blood was staining his white shirt, "I fell and slashed my torso."
"Torso?" I repeated, "What is this, a video game?"
He leaned against the wall, "Don't tell me you don't know basic terminology for the human body."
"Oh trust me, I do."
He laughed and shook his head in attempt to get his hair out of his face. When that didn't work, he ran his fingers through his hair and parted it.
"Did you like my mini concert?"
"It was great. Can I get an encore?"
"Yeah, no thanks."
"How'd you find me?"
"I went to your house and your mom wrote down everything I needed to find you."
"Since it's just the two of us alone, can we talk about something?"
"What's that something?" I said in a flirtatious tone.
"Carlos, I'm being serious," I nodded my head and Tristan sat beside me, "The fire, I want to tell you something about it."
"It was an allusion, I know."
"Still, there are times that we almost killed you. You could've gotten sick or badly hurt."
"I did, many times. But I know each time you regretted it more and more. Tristan, you were blackmailed and manipulated. I don't hate you for anything."
"I still did it," he said as he turned his head away from me.
"And you're trying to fix it now, aren't you?"
I watched his blood stained shirt get more and more red. He had fallen pretty badly.
"I'm going to change into a new shirt, I'll be right back," he said as he got up, "This one's done for."
"You need to bandage up your waist, it can infected that way."
"I have no idea how."
"Take your shirt off," I got up and opened up my backpack. I had packed bandages, gauze, tape, and some more supplies. I bandaged up his waist, "Does it hurt? What even slashed you?"
"I slipped in the shower. I don't know what exactly cut me but it hurts like hell," Tristan was tapping his fingers against his leg, "How's Stephanie? She posted a picture of herself in crutches."
"She hurt her ankle and didn't rest it. She's better, though. Hey, Tristan. Do you have a girlfriend?"
"You sound like my mom."
"Do you, though?"
He smiled, "Why? Do you like me?"
"No, Tiffany said you were dating someone."
"It's Tiffany, of course she was lying. I met this girl named Elle and I guess she got a little mad about it."
"Elle? Does she have a friend named Briella?"
"How would I know, Carlos?"
"Right. Since I'm here, want to go to a cafe? I've never been here before," He was staring at the floor and I snapped my fingers in front of his face, "Hello? Tristan?"
He shook his head, "I'm not hungry, I already ate. I'm going to change into a new shirt now. I forgot to do it before."
Tristan went to the bathroom and I laid back on the bed while the song "Bad Romance" echoed in my mind.
