Batmans P.O.V

I walked over to my suitcase and put on one of my clean suits. "Are you going to be okay in that?" Kal asked me worridly
"I'd usually work on a case some place I can wear more comfortable clothes but I'll be fine, I've done this before." I reassured him.
"Okay." Kal said.

We walked back to where Flash and Green Lantern were standing
"We've got the location, this is another rainforest world so we'll be flying to the place." Green Lantern said,
"I'll be running but do you need someone to carry you?" Flash askes, I put a spare grappling gun onto my belt and pulled out my normal one
"I've got it." I said.

We stepped out into the humid rainforest and Kal and Green Lantern started hovering
"Follow me." Green Lantern said, he flew off with Kal and Flash started running. I fired the grapple gun and quickly got the hang of it, this wasn't Gotham so I didn't know the entire place like the back of my hand but it only took a second or two to adjust, I swung high and stayed in the air next to Kal for a few seconds before firing again and swing through the forest. Nothing like avoid sudden death to clear your head.

Hals P.O.V

We came to a stop at a small town and walked around, looking for anything that could be the sorce of a distress signal. I watched Spooky walk, to be honest, I'd never really liked him. Even from the start, I'd always thought that he thought himself so high and mighty, thought we were weak. I though he ignored us and chose not to answer, didn't trust us for no reason, that he was so strong and fearless and knew no emotion or sunshine (that last part might be true considering Gotham in general).

And then I looked closer, and I began to doubt what I had originally thought. The little smiles he gave Supes as Superman said something I wasn't listening to; the way he didn't hesitated but never acted immediately, always double checking; the smallest changes to his expressions anyone would miss unless you'd known him for years. What I saw didn't fit what I thought and I was fixing that.

Flash and Superman walked ahead, the two people with superspeed going faster, I saw an opportunity and I walked up to Spooky as Flash and Supes chatted ahead "Spooky, I've been meaning to ask, why don't you talk?" I asked, it was blunt sure, but I thought it got my point across. Spooks kept walking for so long I thought he was ignoring me, and then he answered
"I don't always know what to say." he admitted and I nearly scoffed
"What do you mean?" I asked instead, we were aiming for diplomacy here, answers not an arguement
"I can look at something and understand it, a crime scene, a map, a puzzle. But not humans, not people, especially not myself. I can act on and understand what I know, but it takes a moment to get what I'm thinking into words especially if it's an instinct or a gut feeling rather than an observation or answer." Batman said, every word careful and thought over.
"Huh." I said, I looked at him, and then back to the road. I thought about moments I'd thought he was trying to be stubborn or mysterious, it was fully possible he was simply putting his words together.

I took another breath and turned to face him again "Why don't you feel?" I asked, he looked at me, I watched as his fingers twitched, a habit when he was thinking hard, like he'd prefer to be doing or holding something; his head tilted ever so slightly and his eyes got slightly smaller in a barely noticable frown. Oh. I think I just answered my own question.
"I do." he said "I choose not to show it. Criminals are superstitious and I'll always terrify them more as an unkown, and I have a secret identity too. I need to keep up two acts, someone who isn't trained and probably is just nodding along to what your saying so he doesn't look stupid, and a feared possiblly not-human vigilante who doesn't feel, having open body language and expressions are not an option." Batman said
"Really, I thought you were doing it just to annoy us." I said, Batman shook his head and took a deep breath
"We face down world-destroying threats everyday, keeping a calm or at the very least steady composure is key. Most of the time I'm terrified, Wonder Woman was trained on an island of superpowered warriors, Superman is pretty much invincible and seems to be able to pull a new power out of thin air when ever needed, you are literally a guy with a ring that brings his imagination to life and can do anything if you have enough will power! I'm just some guy." Batman said "I jump off buildings everyday, walk off broken bones. I'm luckly enough that no one looks close enough into my behaviour as a civilian to realise I'm not stupid and at worse have a concussion, am in great pain, dealing with blood loss, and at best am sleep deprived. I'm honestly just some guy who has had years of training and fights both alongside and against people with god level powers." Batman said.
"Your life is crazy." I said
"Says the guy with the magic ring." Batman said, and for the first time, he genuinely smiled at me.

Maybe Batman isn't a complete jerk, I'm still not convinced he isn't a vampire though. Tall, dark, and broody, with emotions addition.

"Guys!" Flash yelled, appearing in front of us quickly followed by Supes
"Two kids are missing, kidnapped by some cult to be sacrifices." Superman said
