Eleven

THUM, THUM, THUM

It’s getting closer and closer. Not long after that,

Wargh!!!

It’s not them. But one of the creatures! It’s big! Bigger than they thought when the people told them that there was a big one! And also, fast!

“Is it heading to the door?”, Amber asked as she saw it moving closer to them.

“I- I don’t know,” Daniel stuttered.

They look at it, suddenly bringing one of its feet behind before charging straight to the door! And, it is fast! They will never be ready to know that something that big can be fast!

“Run!”

And that’s all it takes for them to start running. All of this running caused Nowa’s ankle to feel as painful as the first time she got injured. But she still tends to ignore it. Whatever happens, she wants to stay alive! They run using the back door. But that thing seems to know where they are. It’s like, they could sense their present.

“Ergh!”, Nowa finally fell.

“Nowa! Let me help!”, Bella immediately offered help. 

“The gun! Allan takes this gun!”, Nowa passed it to Allan.

Allan takes it and tries to shoot that big creature. After a few shots, the creature still didn’t back down!

“No use! Thick skin!”, Allan said.

The sound of the gun just triggered more of the unknown creatures to gather around. They are now seeing more than six variations at once. 

“This is not good!”, Amber said.

“Follow me, this way!”, but Amber remembered something about this area.

They tried their best to keep up while being chased by everything. Nowa ankle is killing her. Allan snatched her up on his back.

“You will only slow us down so be silent,” he said.

“Wait!”, Maya said.

Her legs are stuck inside the water sewer. Mike helped her. When they thought they managed to break free from the sewer, Maya got snatched away by the giant.

“Argh! Allan!”, she got snatched by the giant, swinging her like a rope. 

“Maya!”, Allan was about to grab her back but was also attacked by the infected jumping from building to building.

Peak!!

“M-Maya?”, Allan lost his will to live.

Nowa takes the gun that Allan dropped and shoots them but the bullets are not enough! She regrets not taking any of the ammo from the safe camp! But, it’s too late now. Maya is no longer alive. The giant just crushed her body to death.

“Out of bullets!”

That’s not what Allan wants to see. Not what the others want to know. He sees it with his own eyes. Out of everyone, why her? That’s what he thought. The infected were still on top of him but he started to lose his strength. His heart feels like it stopped beating even though he’s still breathing. He saw her being crushed by the giant infected. Her blood splattered everywhere.

Bam!

Daniel kicked it away and brought Allan back to his feet. But, he falls back right away. His eyes tell everything. Whatever he sees just now, it’s real. The pain is real. The sound of it is real. 

“Allan, please. Please hear me! You need to be strong! Please!”, Daniel tried to snap him back by hitting and shaking his shoulder.

   They had already been surrounded by them. It’s as good as dying. Nowa also don’t know what else to do. She knows what happened to Maya. They almost lost Mike. She can’t spot where Amber is. And now this? They ended up giving up. They hold their hands together. There’s nothing they can do. At least, that’s what they believe.

   Nowa just holding on tight to Bella's hand, hoping nothing but to feel less pain if they died now. Bella closed her eyes, not wanting to see anything that would happen to them. Allan got lost in his own thoughts after the fall of Maya, not even listening to anything surrounding him. Mike holds on tight to Daniel's arm while Daniel tries his best to stay alert.

Bang Bang Bang!!!

Blood splattering around. But, it’s not theirs. They get down, covering their ears. After whipping out most of the infected in front of them, they see who’s the person behind the machine!

“Amber!”, they said.

Amber is the daughter of a weapon shop. They remembered it but didn’t expect her to be able to rush to the shop and come back with it.

“Get closer to me!”, she said, while still shooting.

They follow her instructions, hiding behind her. Nowa saw a few other weapons that she brought, including a bomb. Daniel and Mike take one. Meanwhile, Allan just follows wherever Daniel drags him into.

“Bomb?”, Nowa asked.

“The giant one, I don’t think we can shoot it to death! It’s a time bomb. Try to throw it right to them!”

The one who got a strong hand and massive focus was actually Allan. But, not in this state.

“Hurry up! It's getting closer!”, Amber said.

“Allan, Allan can you hear me?!”, Nowa asked.

No response.

“What do you want him to do?”, Daniel asked.

“Allan has a massive focus and a strong hand. He can do it, trust me!”

Daniel gives his gun to Nowa. He’ll try to persuade Allan this time.

“Allan, hear me out,” he cupped his face, facing him.

“That big shit right there, it killed Maya. It kills your one and only. It killed your future. Your babe,” Daniel said.

Allan reacted to each of his words. Daniel takes it as a sign that Allan will be doing it.

“Throw this right to his head. Yes, he’s massive but uses all your strength. For Maya.”

Allan takes the bomb from Daniel’s hand. Not even wasting any second, he threw as hard as he could and it hit directly at its head. A perfect shot.

“Everybody, get cover!”, Amber said.

They ran to a building. The other infected are still chasing them but before they get even closer, Amber pushes a button on a remote, causing the bomb on the giant's head to explode, alongside the other bomb that she throws around.

Bomb!!!
