"You're dressed weird." Tommy commented, making Scarlet scoff.
"I think I'm dressed nice." She retorted, and he chuckled.
"You're not from around here, are you?" He asked, causing her to sigh.
"No, I'm not." She replied, looking down at the table.
"I know this is gonna sound really fucking creepy, but do you wanna come stay with me?" He asked,"I think it's better than living on the streets." He commented, and she bit her lip.
"Are you sure?" She asked, and he nodded.
"Yeah," He smiled,"but you'll have to share a room with me. I still live with my parents." He replied, a red tint glowing his cheeks.
"No need to be embarrassed, I lived with my dad until he disappeared." She said, making the red slowly disappear from his cheeks.
"C'mon," He motioned for her to follow,"I've got to go out later, but you're more than welcome to come with. I'm bringing my girl out, but she'd probably like to meet you." He commented, but the girl shook her head.
"No, you go out and spend time with your girlfriend," She replied,"I should probably get to know your parents more than just a little if I'm going to be living there."
"Okay," He grinned,"Let's go. I bet Athena has some clothes you can borrow until we can go out and get you more."
"Athena?"
"My sister." He answered, and she nodded.
Tommy wrapped his arm around Scarlet's shoulders and walked home with her. Once they had gotten to his place, he opened the door and motioned for her to enter. She was nervous, but he was right, it was better than being on the streets. She barely had anything with her that would sustain her for even a day.
"Mom, Dad," Tommy brought Scarlet to the kitchen where his parents were sitting,"this is Scarlet, she's one of my friends. I haven't seen her in years. Her father left, and she just got kicked out because she didn't have the money to pay for their place without him," He lied,"Would it be okay with you guys if she stayed here?"
"Where's your mom?" Tommy father asked, causing the girl to look at the ground.
"She died when I was little," The girl replied,"I was only six months old."
"I'm sorry," His mother murmured,"if you have no home, you can stay here."
"Thank you both." Scarlet answered, and Tommy's parents smiled politely at the girl.
She could tell that Tommy's father had felt bad about asking where her mother was. He never asked about her father, but she had a feeling that they didn't want to upset her by asking about why the man had left, or where he had gone. Even if they asked, she would've had to lie, not even Tommy would know the truth.
"This is my room," Tommy commented,"I'll bring the spare bed in here later. It's in storage, but you can use my bed for now if you need a nap."
"This room is very...you. I can definitely see who you are, simply from the way your room is decorated." She said, causing him to chuckle.
Scarlet later met Athena, but only an hour later, Tommy left to spend time with his girlfriend. Scarlet decided to take up Tommy's offer of using his bed for a nap. She felt exhausted from her "trip" to the past. She really didn't want to leave herself vulnerable, but if she didn't sleep, she'd be unable to find herself a way out of wherever she was.
About an hour later, Tommy's father came up and told Scarlet that it was time for dinner. He also mentioned grabbing the spare bed for her, so she wouldn't have to use the disgusting teenage boy bed. She thought it was funny that Tommy's father had said that, but she did see where he was coming from.
"Do you have any clothes?" Athena asked, but Scarlet shook her head.
"No, I was, uh, I wasn't home a couple nights ago, and someone went in and stole all my things. Yesterday, I was kicked out, and today I ran into Tommy. If it wasn't for him, and all of you, I don't know what would happen to me." She replied, hoping it would make his family feel bad for her, and actually believe her story.
"I'll let you have some of my clothes I don't wear much anymore." Athena commented, causing the girl to smile.
"I will take you to purchase clothes next week," Tommy's mother said,"Is that okay?"
"Yes, thank you," Scarlet answered,"but you don't have to. I'm fine with just wearing whatever Athena gives me."
"Nonsense," The woman replied,"You need more than just a couple of outfits."
A couple hours later, Scarlet had a bed in Tommy's room, and she had some of Athena's bedding that she wasn't using. Scarlet was thankful for everything Tommy's family was doing for her. She hadn't expected such hospitality, but these people were some of the nicest people she had ever met.
When Tommy came home later, he entered his room to see Scarlet fast asleep in her bed. He smiled slightly, seeing his new friend sleeping. He could tell just by looking at her that she was exhausted. He wondered if asking her about her parents was a good idea, but he really wanted to know some more about her.
Scarlet was a mystery to everyone in this time. They didn't know much about her, but that's what would keep her hidden. One day, she'd be able to find the witch that sent her here, and hopefully get sent back home. If not, she'd gank the witch, and find herself another one. She just didn't know what all she'd miss while she was away. She hoped like hell that her brothers wouldn't forget her while she was stuck in the past...
