I gasp from my nightmare and throw myself out of my bed. That's it. I'm done with Tom Riddle. I'm done with being used as a weapon for his bidding on whatever he has me doing for him. I use as much energy as my tired body has in me and take the diary. I leave the Gryffindor common room going into the abandoned girl's bathroom. I throw the diary into the toilet and run away from it as fast as I can. As I leave back to the common room I feel a weight being lifted on my shoulder, but I have a feeling this isn't over yet. I can still feel him, his power over me, slowly taking over me. I can't help but let him. I'm too tired of fighting.
As the days go by though I feel more myself again. I hear about what happened to Hermione accidentally using Polyjuice Potion with a cat hair instead of human and go and visit her in the infirmary.
"Hi." I meekly say as I walk over to her, she looks mostly like herself except for her black furry tail she still has. "I like your tail. Can you keep it?" Hermione looks at me suspiciously before speaking. "You've ignored Harry, Ron and I for weeks now. We've been worried sick about you and the only thing you have to say to me is that you like my tail?" I shyly glance over back at her and nod my head at her. She only stares at me until she starts laughing. I laugh alongside her and pull up a chair next to her. "Look, Hermione." I grab her hand into mine. "I've treated you horribly these past couple weeks. I know that. But please promise me you understand when I tell you, I thought I was losing my mind. I hadn't been able to sleep well. I've been constantly exhausted, and I can't remember most of my nights this year. I think that I've been under some sort of spell."
She sits up looking intensely at me. "A spell? You think you've been under a spell, and you can't remember fractions of your night?" I nod over at her. "I don't know what's been happening to me Hermione, but I'm scared. I'm so scared. And I thought that the best thing for you three was if I just stopped being around you so I can figure this out on my own without having to risk anyone's lives. I wouldn't be able to forgive myself if any of you got hurt on account of me." She softly smiles at me and squeezes my hand in reassurance. "Arabella, you are my closest friend. If there is something hurting you, or harming you, I will stop anything or anyone, I will do whatever it takes to keep you safe. As I know you would do for me. But please understand, you can't keep things like these bottled up. You need to come to us Ara, even if you think you shouldn't youu are our friend too, we care about you so much." "Thank you. Mione. I love you."
"So..." I start to smile mischievously at her, "care to explain why this happened to you." She goes on to tell me how she made Polyjuice Potion so her, Ron, and Harry could sneak into the Slytherin common room and interrogate my brother on if he knows who the Heir of Slytherin is. Unfortunately, not to my surprise, they boys found out that he did not.
Harry's POV
"Have you spoken to Hermione?" Ron asks me as we head to the Gryffindor common room. "She should be out of hospital in a few days, when she stops coughing up fur balls." We both laugh and then notice the floor that it's all wet. We follow the trail of water and see that it leads over to the girl's bathroom. "Yuck! Looks like Moaning Myrtle's flooded the bathroom." Ron says grossed out by all the bathroom water on the floor. We head over to the bathroom and see that all the waterspouts in the sink are what's caused the flood. Ron and I hear moaning and crying from the toilet stalls.
"Come to throw something else at me?" Myrtle asks. "Why would I throw something at you?" I ask back at her. "Don't ask me. Here I was, minding my own business, and someone thought it was funny to throw a book near me. She didn't even see me which was ruder." "But it can't hurt if someone throws something at you. I mean... it'll just go right through you." Ron points out. Myrtle fly's right up to him angry. "Oh, sure! Let's all throw books at Myrtle because she can't feel it. Ten points if you get it through her stomach!" She puts her arm right into Ron's stomach. "Fifty points if it goes through her head!" She puts her arm through Ron's head. "But who threw it at you anyway?" I ask her. " I don't know, I didn't see them. I was just sitting in the U-bend, thinking about death, and it fell near the top of my head. Mhm." She starts to cry and moan again as she fly's away from the bathroom, disappearing. I look on the ground seeing a book sitting on the floor all soaked up from the water. I feel as if I've seen this book before. I pick it up.
Arabella's POV
Arabella....
I hear a voice whisper to me, pulling me into a deep trance once more my thoughts and actions no longer being of my control.
You must retrieve me. I've been stolen. The Potter boy stole me. Come get me back. Now.
I get up from the library and run over to the Gryffindor common room and sneak into the boy's room. I turn the whole living quarters upside down looking for it. I flip chairs over; I scratch pillows wide open searching for the diary. I feel like a rapid animal searching for its prey. I can't control myself. finally, I find the diary under Harry's bed and clutch it to me chest sighing deeply.
I rush over to the girl's side and go into my room and put the diary back in its rightful spot. With me.
I'm sorry master. I have failed you. Please, forgive me.
My legs shake aggressively as I sit on my desk waiting for a response from him. Please, please respond.
You have found me Arabella. That is all that matters now. I suspect that you are now finally willing to submit to me.
I take a deep breath of relief and write back.
Yes, master. I submit my will over to you. Tell me, is there anything I can do to help you Tom?
Yes, there is something you can do for me.
What? What is it?
Come to the Chamber. Come find me, and free me from my prison. If you want your friends, especially the Potter boy unharmed.
Harry? He's going to hurt Harry? Ron? Hermione? I'll do anything for them.
Yes master. Just tell me what to do. Tell me how to get there.
No matter child. I will once more help you.
I feel my subconscious go to sleep one more time.
