Harry's POV (cont)
Ron and I rush to the DADA classroom trying to catch up to Lockhart.
"Lockhart may be useless, but he's going to try and get into the Chamber. At least we can tell him what we know." We get up to his office door and I burst it open, "Professor! We have some information for you." We see that Lockhart is packing up all of his things into his luggage. "Are you going somewhere?" I question him. "Uh, well, yes. Um... Urgent call. Unavoidable, uh... got to go." "What about our friend?! You can't go now!" Ron yells at him. "Well, I must say when I took the job there was nothing in the job description about--" "You're running away? After all that stuff you did in your books?" "Books can be misleading." "You wrote them!" I fire back at him. "My dear boy, do use your common sense! My books wouldn't have sold half as well if people didn't think I'd done all those things!" He confesses to Ron and me. "You're a fraud. You've just been taking credit for what other wizards have done." "Is there anything you can do?" Ron accuses him.
"Yes. Now you mention it. I'm rather gifted with memory charms. Otherwise, you see, all those wizards would have gone babbling, and I'd never have sold another book. In fact, uh... I'm going to have to do the same to you." He whips out his wand at us, but Ron and I are faster and whip ours at him. "Don't even think about it." I warn him. I gesture for him to put his wand down and the prick just drops it onto the ground.

Ron and I lead Lockhart over to the girl's bathroom where Moaning Myrtle is wandering about. "Oh, who's there? Oh, hello Harry. What do you want?" "To ask you how you died." I plainly tell her. "Oh, it was dreadful. It happened right here in this very cubicle. I'd hidden because Olive Horny was teasing me about my glasses. I was crying... and then I heard somebody come in." "Who was it. Myrtle?" "I don't know. I was distraught! But they said something funny, a kind of made-up language, and I realized it was a boy speaking, so I unlocked the door to tell him to go away, and... I died."
"Just like that? How?" "I remember seeing a pair of great, big, yellow eyes... over there by thank sink." She points to the sinks in the middle of the room. She floats away from us not wanting to talk any further. I walk over to the sink and look closely at one of the faucets. There's a snake design on it.
"This is it. This is the entrance to the chamber of Secrets Ron." "Well, say something. In Parseltongue."
"Heesh...shaha...sa."
Rumbling happens in the inside of the sink and the mechanics of it start to open wide and the Chamber of Secrets open for us. We look down the hole that opens up in the floor and see it goes far, so far, we can't see the bottom.
"Excellent, Harry. Ah, good work. Well, then, I'll just be...um... There's no need for me to stay." Lockhart tries to run off, but Ron and I block him and shove him towards the hole trapping him. "You first." I tell him, Ron and I pointing our wands at him. "Now, boys, what good will it do?" "Better you than us." Ron quips back at him. "Um, but... Obviously. Yes." He slowly turns around and looks down at the hole then turns his head back at us. "You sure you don't want to test it first?" Ron uses his wand to push him down the hole and we watch him disappear and we hear a crash from the bottom.
"it's really quite filthy down here." "Alright, let's go." I tell Ron. "Oh, Harry?" I look over to Myrtle. "if you die down there, you're welcome to share my toilet." Jesus Christ, someone end me. "Um.... thanks Myrtle." I jump down the hole, Ron following me after.
It's like a long slide we go down, but we finally stop at the bottom, landing on old animal bones. Gross. Ron and I spot Lockhart and we both get up fast while pointing our wands at him.
