I truly did not expect for my first detention to be during my first year at Hogwarts, I thought I'd at least go through one year without getting into trouble. I suppose trouble follows me, and now my new friends everywhere we go.As the five seven of us, Fang included, of course, wander deeper and deeper into the Dark Forest I get the feeling that someone, or something is watching. I truly do understand now why students are forbidden to enter and pray that this is the only time I'll ever have to venture into here.
Hagrid leans down to the ground and his fingers touch this liquid metal substance.
"Hagrid, what is that?" I ask. "What we're here for. See that? That's unicorn blood, that is. I found one dead a few weeks ago. Now, this one's been hurt bad by something."
I see Harry look off into the forest we both see a dark figure beyond the mist walking off. Is there someone here with us? Or was it just my imagination? I grab Draco's hand out of fear and look over at him. He seems shocked by what I did but doesn't pull away from me.
"So, it's our job to go and find the poor beast. Ron, Hermione, you'll come with me." "Okay." Ron whimpers out. "And Harry, you'll go with the Malfoys." Harry looks over at the pair of us and nods his head at Hagrid.
"Okay, then I get Fang." Draco demands. "Fine. Just so's you know, he's a bloody coward." Fang starts whining at the mention of his name. "Then why is he with us Hagrid?" I inquire. " Cause, he doesn't like to be left home alone. Like I said, bloody coward he is." I lean down to Fang and pet the poor dog.

"You wait till our father hears about this. This is servant's stuff." Draco complains next to me. "If I didn't know better, Draco, I'd say you were scared." Harry pipes up on the other side of me. "Scared, Potter?" "Can you both please just shut up? We've been alone for barely five minutes and you two are already at it. -" I get cut off by the sound of howling, we all gasp and look around to see where it came from.
"Did you both hear that as well?" my brother asks us. "If I lie and say no, can we please continue walking? The sooner we find the poor unicorn, the sooner we can all get out of here." I speak, "Come on, Fang."
After a while longer of walking in the forest fang starts to growl at something. "What is it fang?" Harry asks. Draco grabs my arm and Harry and I look over to what Draco is seeing. Shit. It's the figure I saw from before. It's eating the dead unicorn. Almost like sucking its blood. The figure stops what it's doing and looks up at the three of us.
I hear Harry gasp in pain, and he puts his hand up to his scar. It must be something bad. Something really bad. I take my wand out, trembling, but ready. The figure, with the unicorn blood drooling from its mouth, growls at us. My brother screams bloody murder and grabs my hand trying to get us to run away with Fang who's already fled the scene. I try to also grab Harry, but as Draco pulls us away, I trip and fall onto the ground taking Harry with me. My brother on the other hand, runs off yelling for help.
Harry and I look back over at the figure that is now coming towards us flying. It keeps walking and we back away stuck against the roots of the trees unable to go any further. I grab Harry's hand in mine in fear. As the figure steps closer, it becomes startled by a centaur flying over our heads scaring it away from us, the dark figure leaves and the centaur approaches us.
"Harry Potter, you must leave. You are known to many creatures here. The forest is not safe at this time, especially for you." "But what was that thing you saved us from?"
"A monstrous creature. It is a terrible crime to slay a unicorn. Drinking the blood of a unicorn you keep you alive, even if you are an inch from death. But at a terrible price. For you have slain something so pure that from the moment the blood touches your lips you will have a half-life. A cursed life."
