Chapter 15: Burning Memories

Neji woke up surrounded by a black void, he questioned where he was at but all of a sudden Kumotta appeared in front of him.

Neji: Where are we?

Kumotta: You're inside of a genjutsu I casted, I want to show you something.

The two began walking together through the void in silence, that is until Neji spoke up.

Neji: What is it you were wanting to show me?

Kumotta: You told me that I have no idea what it's like to lose someone so close to me. That just because my clan was wiped out that I had no feelings towards them. And to be honest, you weren't completely wrong...

Neji: What?!

Kumotta: I never knew my mother, all I know is that she was a powerful ninja from a clan outside of the village. She died shortly after my birth. My father was always busy with the police force or the clan. The only one I was ever truly close to was my elder brother, Shisui. And aside from Sasuke... I don't feel much towards them. Sure I am sad, well sad doesn't begin to explain it. But what good is being sad when it isn't going to change anything, and there isn't any point in anger. Sure I held a grudge against your clan, I still do. But I am working on it.

Neji stayed silent as he listened to what Kumotta had to say, he did understand what it meant to live in solemn. He truly did have demons of his own. This opened Neji's eyes and made him more aware of his arrogance.

Kumotta: Follow me...

The two began walking as the black void around them changed into the Uchiha Residence in the leaf village. It was a nice chilly night and there were people all around talking and having a good time.

Neji: Where are we?

Kumotta: This is the day I lost my clan.

The two walk into a house where a man wearing the Uchiha police force uniform was talking to a woman.

Male Uchiha: Well Mae, I am off to do my routes. Take care of Kumotta for me.

Mae: Just don't stay out too late Kagami, you know how much he worries.

Just then they saw a younger Kumotta run out of his room.

Young Kumotta: Papa! Let me go with you!

Kagami: Sorry Kumotta, not tonight. Maybe this weekend we can, I can even show you a new juts-

Suddenly screams were heard from outside, the sound of blades clashing and blood spilling.

Kagami: Mae you need to take Kumotta and run.

Mae: What are you...

Just as she was about to finish her sentence sword pierced right through her stomach, shocking everyone present.

Kagami: NO!!! KUMOTTA GET OUT OF HERE!!!

Little Kumotta was standing frozen in fear as the figure pulled his sword out from Mae and started walking towards Kumotta. Kumotta couldn't move, he was to scared.

As the figure went to kill Kumotta, his father jumped in the way, taking the fatal blow for his son.

Kagami: <weakly> Kumotta... you... need to... run...

As his father's body goes limp Kumotta looks at his father with tears streaming down his face.

Kumotta: NO PAPA!!!!

And the figure then removes his sword from his father and walks towards Kumotta. Kumotta could see he was wearing an orange mask with black stripes on it, and through the only eye sockets he could see a sharigan.
