You love me now
When my skin is soft and my teeth are mine
You love me in my teenage years
Will you still do it when I'm eighty-nine?
Not all things last long
But I hope our love will
When my hair is all grey and my face full of wrinkles
Will you love me still?
Will you still love me
Even when I forget who you are
When I forget that I love you
With every flaw and every scar?
Will you still love me
Even when I'm not around?
When you're still walking on the earth
And I'm laying under the ground
When my teeth are fake
And my hair's turned into grey
When I can't remember you
Will you stay?
I don't know about you
But I will
Even when I forget who you are
I'll love you still.
This is one of my favourite poems I've ever written, if not THE favourite. I think it shows how beautiful the idea of loving someone for your whole lifetime is, even when you can't remember them anymore. I truly believe feelings are not something that you need to remember and when you really love someone or somethin, you won't lose that love. Even if you lose a part of what made you love it.
