One year ago...
"No! Please, please leave me. No, no don't, don't beat me. Please. Ammi... Ammi where are you? Ammiiii... Ammi save me. Ammi please save me. Ammi..."
The girl's voice trailed off as she woke up with a start, her heart racing. She sat up in bed, panting and sweating profusely. She wiped her forehead with her palm and glanced at her phone for the time.
"Ya Allah!!! This dream. Astagfirullah." She exclaimed, still trying to catch her breath.
It was 4:30 in the morning. She quickly got out of bed, wrapped a dupatta around her head, and headed to the washroom to perform Wuduh. After completing her ablution, she offered Fajr namaz, the morning prayer. Then, she raised her hands to make dua, seeking solace and peace.
"Ya Rab, ya my Allah, what's happening? Why do these dreams haunt me every night? I haven't had a single night's peace without seeing that same terrifying dream. Ya Allah, Ya Allah, please, I beg of you, deliver me from this torment and grant me a peaceful sleep. Malik, my Lord, have mercy on me."
She sobbed, her voice cracking with emotion.
"O my Allah, please soothe my heart and mind. Oh my Allah, I'm begging you, rescue me from this distress. Please, Allah, please."
She paused, taking a deep breath before continuing.
"And Allah, today's my NEET result. I desperately want to qualify with excellent scores. Please, Allah, grant my dreams. I'm counting on your blessings. Please, Allah, please."
Her words trailed off as she dissolved into tears, her heart pouring out to Allah in anguish and hope.
Amreen prayed, folded her prayer mat, and sat on the bed with her books, trying to focus on studying. However, as the afternoon wore on, her nerves got the better of her. She found herself anxiously biting her nails, her eyes fixed on the clock.
The NEET result was about to be announced, and Amreen's anxiety was palpable. She and her friend, Shehnaaz, kept glancing at the laptop screen, willing the results to appear.
Shehnaaz tried to reassure her. "Calm down, Amreen. I'm sure your result will be amazing. Believe me."
Amreen's voice trembled. "I don't know... I'm really scared."
Shehnaaz placed a comforting hand on Amreen's arm. "Don't worry, there's nothing to fear. Zafar Bhai said not to take any tension at all. Everything will be fine."
Amreen's eyes welled up with tears. "Zafar Bhai helped me so much... I just want to fulfill their expectations."
Shehnaaz smiled encouragingly. "In Sha Allah, everything will be good. You know, my dear friend, you can do everything. Come on, don't worry."
Azka entered the room, a warm smile on her face. "Beta! What's happening with Amreen's result?"
Shehnaaz comforted her, "Don't worry, aunty, everything will be fine. Only two minutes left. Just pray."
Amreen, overwhelmed with stress, began pacing around the room. Suddenly, Shehnaaz rapidly clicked the keyboard buttons and burst into a scream of joy.
Shehnaaz exclaimed, "Amreeennnn! You've qualified! You've scored 620 marks! Congratulations!"
Amreen was stunned, disbelieving her ears. She rushed to check the result herself and erupted into tears of joy, hugging Shehnaaz tightly.
Amreen cried out, "Yes...yes...yes! I've scored such good marks! Ammi! Ammi, I've scored 620 marks! I did it, Ammi! I didn't think I could, but I did!"
