Love doesn't have to be hard

Chapter 15: Time to Surprise Tessa

So, I have unloaded and even unpacked all my stuff. I picked up her stuff and unpacked it. I placed her books in the same order she had them at Kim's on the bookshelves in the living room. 

I have the entire apartment ready for her when I pick her up today. I figured once I surprised her. We could get dishes and household stuff we would need. 

The furniture was delivered this morning. The house is ready for her, and I even made a banner that reads welcome home, baby.

I have my guitars lined up on stands, her books in their proper place, and our stereo system set up. I bought her a blanket I saw her looking at last time we were at Target and placed it on the back of the couch with several pillows to decorate the couch.

It is about twenty-five minutes from our apartment to her work and to campus. So, it was a perfect location, which was one of the main things she liked about this apartment.  

I drive to her work and go to the elevator. I push the button for her office. I step off, and Kim smiles at me. "Hey Zed, you know where her office is, go on back."

"Hey Kim, and thanks. Once we get settled in, you, Christian and Smith will have to join us for dinner at our new place."

"We can't wait. Tell her to call me after you surprise her."

"I will." He walked back to her office, knocked on the door, and then opened it. She was sitting at her desk reading a manuscript. She looked up and was shocked.

"Zed, what are you doing here? It's only Thursday."

"Are you surprised?"

"Yes."

"Happily surprised, I hope."

"Yes, the best surprise." She walked over and wrapped her arms around my neck as she kissed me.

"Good, now get your stuff. Kim has given me permission to take you away. I have another surprise for you."    

"Another surprise? Okay, I am excited."

"I think you will like your next surprise even more than seeing me."

"I doubt that."

"Now, when we get into the truck, I will need to blindfold you for the location of the next surprise."

"What? Why?"

"So, you won't know where we are going, but trust me, you will love it."

"Okay, fine." I grab my purse and phone. "Hey Kim, if you don't hear from me in a couple of hours, call the police. My Fiance is taking me away but making me wear a blindfold."

"You will be fine, and you are going to love the next surprise."

"What do you know what it is?" 

"Of course, he needed some help with it. Have fun and make sure to call me and tell me all about it. Bye, guys."

They walked down to his truck, and he helped her in. He kissed her and then placed the blindfold around her eyes and made funny faces to ensure she couldn't see. 

"How far is this surprise?"

"It's about a half-hour ride."

"Hmm, thirty minutes from here."

"Don't try to guess; just enjoy the ride and be patient." 

"Okay, fine, I will."

"Thank you, baby." He got in the truck and drove toward the apartment. He drove a few blocks away just to throw her off, and he made the ride take thirty-five minutes instead of the normal twenty-five.
