Chapter 1
Jays POV:
Everyday I open my eyes next to my beautiful girlfriend, I've been with her for 2 years now, we aren't engaged or living together or anything like that but waking up next to her is nice. I watch her sleep and begin to awaken, I admire her as her long blonde hair falls over her big blue eyes and in a sleepy voice she says good morning. I smile and say it back but deep down I know it's a fake smile, I haven't had a real smile since the day she left. That day haunts my dreams and the rare occasion it doesn't I wake up hoping to see her next to me. Now dont get me wrong I love Hailey but my love for Erin is so much stronger than my love for Hailey. The day Erin left for New York City I was devastated, my heart shattered into millions of pieces and it took me a while to even get the pieces to somewhat resemble a heart. Erin feels like home and there's been a whole in my heart since the day she left. We both get up and get dressed and head to the station, I drive because I always drive. I can't stand the thought of another women driving while I ride shotgun even if it is Hailey, thats a me and Erin thing and that will ever change. The only girl I will ever ride shotgun with is Erin but I have no clue if that will even ever happen again, probably not...
General POV;
Hailey and jay walk into 21 and are greeted by trudy who simply looks above her glasses nods and then continues her work. Jay and Hailey head upstairs where the immediately are thrown into work. It's an easy case that is pretty simple to solve so it doesn't take more than a day. Just a typical gang hit except this time the hitman was a noobie and threw the gun into the trash bin next to the scene... easy case. At the end of the day everyones grabs their jackets and begins heading for the door except jay and hank, Hailey kisses jay goodbye and jay flashes yet another fake smile before pulling her aside. Jay begins explaining to Hailey his feelings, not specifically about Erin but about the relationship and the conversations ends, "Hailey I'm sorry, I'm so so sorry but I can't do this anymore" jay says and gently hugs the side of her head and walks away while Hailey is left standing there speechless . Back in the bullpen, Jay walks into Hanks office, "hey sarge I'm gonna need a few days off, I'm heading out of town" Jay says "no problem, where are you heading" Hanks asks... Jay simply says "Home"...
