Mohini POV
I am frozen in place like a statue, listening to their conversation.
I can't seem to believe the words coming out of their mouths. Chandani replies nonchantly,
'What is done is done, focus on your present and future.'
The other women says sarcastically,
'Yes, what a bright future we have, if I had a choice I wouldn't have become this, look at your bright future gifted to you by Rani-sa.'
Chandani scoffs and says,
'Wives whether they are Queen or normal housewife, they will always be insecure about their husband's mistress, because they know who has their husband.'
To which second lady scoffs and says,
'You are delusional, the men only wants us for the body, if we don't have necessary tools for their pleasure, they will discard us like garbage.
Their wives can't provide basic needs but they still go back to their wives, thats called love or whatever, we can never be important than them.
Wives can be jealous of us but at the end of the day we both know who has the man.'
I hear Chandani raising her voice saying,
'Enough! I have kept you on my head too much that's why you are talking to me like that.
Go do your work and train the girls, especially how to keep a smile on their face all time, no matter what.'
I move back from there to go to my own room all the while pondering what I just heard.
Unwilling women, Sold women, what is going on here?
My mind is clouded with so many questions. It looks like we can never catch break.
If it is not one thing then another, springing on me, I can't let this go.
I won't ever accept unwilling and sold women in my empire but I can be wrong too.
I could have taken the context in the wrong way so I can't just jump to conclusion. I have to tread this very carefully.
Its time for me to know how Chandani held so much power over there first.
I will be completely honest about this situation with Raja-sa. I won't make the same mistake twice.
I won't lose him because of my stupidity.
I enter my room to find Raja-sa looking through the books in his cabinet.
I steel myself and go over to him with a pleasant smile.
He looks up at me and his eyes go soft. I love how his expressions just melt whenever he sees me.
I sign,
'You are not in the royal court today?'
He replies,
'We decided to have meeting when we have strategised the budget plan for your new opportunities.'
I feel happy that he is considering my opinion and giving it so importance.
I hesitate which Raja-sa sees and says with a frown,
'Kya hua Mohini? Hume aisa kyun lag raha hai ki aap kuch kehna chah rahi hai par keh nahi paa rahi? Aap hume kuch bhi bata sakti hai.'
'What happened Mohini? Why do I feel that you want to say something but are not able to say it? You can tell me anything.'
