Asahina Iori X Reader ((Brothers Conflict))

Dedicated to the overly amazing @magiclives <3 Seriously so unfair though because the second I was getting on track with updating these oneshots (almost) on time, I suddenly began getting tons of homework like why does school hate me so? :3 Anyway I do apologize for the wait and I'll be sure to update a tons over this weekend to make up for my inactivity on these one-shots lately! <3

Silently staring at all the beautiful flowers, you sat in the neatly cut grass early this morning since you couldn't sleep. The sun had risen just enough for you to make out the shapes of the nature around you and so you didn't necessarily see a problem with being out of the condo and away from all your step siblings at a time like this.

 Though last night leading up to this very early morning hasn't exactly been the best.

You've just been in one of those moods that makes you overly think nearly everything and also try and analyze every small detail that you possibly can. That's what's also led to you sitting here thinking about your own feelings towards the supposed "Perfect Prince" among your thirteen brothers.

Everything about him is so perfectly imperfect to you. The way he answers everything so calmly and is yet still so secretive. How he always seems to have his emotions locked behind this smile that most people think is genuine but you know is fake. All the times you've seen him tend to the flowers of this very garden with a somewhat depressed smile tugging at the corners of his lips when he thinks no one is watching.

You can't seem to take your attention away from Iori.

The flowers were almost hypnotizing as you watched them while the sun slowly began to peak out from below the horizon, lighting everything with soft yellow's and orange's as well as dying the sky with an array of warm colors. But what caught your eye the most out of these flowers were the pure forget-me-not's that seemed to be withering away.

Their once vibrant blue petals with hints of purple were now becoming dimmer in intensity and almost looking sick. Even the small bush they grow on is becoming more of an ashy colored green from the lack of water it's been receiving. Though this plants dying doesn't make any sense because this is the one you almost always see Iori tending to the most.

With a slow and gently movement, you cupped a few of the forget-me-not's into the palm of one of your hands and gazed down at it with a somewhat sad smile. These flowers seemed to be reflecting someone's feelings and it was obvious just who those feelings belonged to. Just because he's always caring so much for this plant in particular doesn't mean that they'll respond positively if he isn't happy himself...

"Good morning ___-chan." A soft voice rang out from behind you as the sound of faint footsteps began to grow nearer.

"Ah, good morning Iori-kun." You responded with a bright smile while glancing over your shoulder.

"I didn't think anyone was up this early besides me." He lightly laughed.

The only response you gave him was the small smile that still graced your lips as he sat down next to you and glanced down to your hand that still cupped a few of the forget-me-not's. His eyes slightly wavered at the way you held them so carefully and lovingly. Something within him changed a bit in that single moment and now he couldn't help but to trail back up to stare at the profile of your face.

"They seem to be dying..." You whispered under your breath as you glanced over to Iori from your peripheral vision.

"They do don't they..." The silverette whispered back as he went back to staring a bit sadly at the flowers within your hand. "But I think their more sad than actually dying."

Neither you nor Iori spoke for a good few minutes as you both gazed at the forget-me-not's. You wanted to say something to him, but what was the question. It's not that difficult to just keep talking about the flowers so that's always an option and even school is. But this moment right here doesn't feel like the time to be talking about such trivial things.

"Hey... Iori..." His name came out as nothing more than a mumbled sigh while you turned your head to look straight into his golden colored eyes. "You should smile sometimes."

It took a minute for your step-brother to fully understand what you had just said. He wasn't expecting for you, some seemingly random girl who just so happened to suddenly become apart of his family, be the first to see through his charade. This was something he never thought would happen in a million years.

"It doesn't matter what or who you smile at or for, but just be happy ok? I'm sure Kana-nii and the others would love to see your true smile..." You're words trailed off as you grew more nervous from the way Iori just stared blankly at you.

Was he mad or just staring at you for the sake of staring? The last thing you wanted to do was offend him and so mumbling one little apology under your breath, you returned your gaze downwards to the slowly dying forget-me-not's.

"You want me to be... Happy?" Iori finally spoke up. "Then come out here every morning before we have to leave for our separate schools and help me take care of my garden."

You immediately whipped your head to the side to stare back at him. That small smile that played at the corners of his lips were real and you couldn't help but to smile softly back at him.

"It would be my pleasure."

Thanks everyone for reading this far, it really means a lot considering my updating has been rather inconsistent lately. But you know, high school kind of takes up a lot of your time.
