"It's been a while, huh?" The man said, pulling his ears away from his phone call as he closed the distance between you.
"Yeah, it has, Shinji-senpai," you replied, but before you could finish, he pulled you into a warm hug, catching you off guard.
Gojo Satoru's brows twitched slightly as he watched the scene unfold, clearly unimpressed by the display of affection. But before he could make any snarky comments, Shinji released you from the embrace and placed a hand on your shoulder.
With a warm grin, Shinji remarked, "You've grown up nicely."
However, his words were met with a soundless, mocking mimicry from Gojo Satoru, who exaggeratedly parroted, "Oh, you've grown up nicely!"
Just who would use those cheesy pick-up lines these days?
"Um, thanks," you stuttered, feeling slightly flustered by the unexpected compliment.
Gojo couldn't help but feel a twinge of bitterness as he observed the interaction. Shinji was undeniably attractive, but in his opinion, he didn't hold a candle to himself.
"You know, I used to have a crush on you back in high school. Seeing you now—"
"Could you not touch her so casually? You homewrecker!" Gojo Satoru interjected loudly, deliberately drawing attention to himself. With a subtle mischievous grin, he added, "Ah, babe, you never mentioned this senpai of yours to me."
Deciding to distance himself from the impending drama, Nanami stepped away to handle your orders with the shop owner.
You furrowed your brows at Gojo's antics, wondering what his game was this time. "What are you—"
"No fair, babe," Gojo feigned a pout, clutching his heart dramatically. "Didn't you say you loved me the most because I'm not like other men?"
Ah, you finally understood. Was he attempting to sabotage you because he thought you were being flirted with?
Yet, in the end, it seemed to work in your favor, potentially sparing you from a great deal of trouble.
"Apologies, senpai," you said, gently disentangling yourself from his grasp and bowing slightly. "If it's a confession, I'll have to decline."
Shinji blinked a few times, glancing between you and Gojo before chuckling. "No worries, L/N Y/N. I wasn't proposing anyway; I'm married, and my wife will soon give birth."
Gojo Satoru appeared momentarily dumbstruck, his expression a mix of confusion and amusement as he glanced between you and Shinji, his lips slightly parted in disbelief.
You, on the other hand, quickly straightened yourself, a faint blush betraying your embarrassment.
"Ah, my bad—" you began, but Shinji waved you off with a dismissive gesture.
"Don't worry about it," he said casually. "But if I were single, I'd definitely sweep you off your feet and steal you away from that weird boyfriend of yours."
The challenge was unmistakable, and Gojo Satoru was more than ready to play along, exaggerating his affections by hugging himself as if to emphasize his relationship with you.
"I highly doubt that," he retorted with a playful smirk. "Y/N already told me she loves me the most."
You rolled your eyes at his theatrics, scolding him gently. "Stop it, Gojo Satoru. You're embarrassing me."
Feigning hurt, Gojo pouted, "Aw, come on, babe. Why am I the one getting scolded?"
Shinji chuckled at the banter, approaching Gojo with a smug glint in his eye. "You've got quite the interesting taste in men, Y/N. And what's with the blindfold? Are you Cosplaying or something?"
As Shinji extended a hand towards Gojo's blindfold, you intervened, firmly grasping his wrist and speaking coldly, "Senpai, even for you, that's crossing a line. Please refrain from disrespecting my companions."
"My bad, I didn't mean to be disrespectful," Shinji apologized, and you released his wrist. Gojo Satoru wore a smug smirk, clearly enjoying the exchange. "Anyway, what brings you to Tokyo, Y/N?"
"Just here for some business," you shrugged nonchalantly.
"I see. I always thought you and your brother were inseparable."
Your shoulders tensed at the mention of your brother, and you straightened slightly as Nanami returned with your snacks.
"What did I miss?" he inquired.
"Not much," Gojo replied, his tone still playful.
Ignoring the banter between the sorcerers, you spoke up. "My brother passed away a couple of weeks ago. I recently moved out of Kyoto."
"I-I see. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to—" Shinji stammered, clearly taken aback.
"It's okay, don't worry," you reassured him with a wave of your hand, a faint smile gracing your lips.
"How about having dinner with me so we can catch up?"
You shook your head in refusal. "We already have plans for dinner."
Shinji arched an eyebrow, eyeing you and the two men behind you skeptically. "You? Alone with two men? You're not in some kind of trouble, are you?"
You shook your head, offering an honest reply. "No, we have more people joining us soon."
He pondered for a moment before giving a resigned nod. "Okay. But here," he said, handing you a card. "I'm working as a detective here, so if you ever need anything, just give me a call."
"Got it," you replied, taking the card.
"Alright then, catch you later," Shinji said, turning to leave.
You nodded in response and waved him off, but as he walked away, your expression darkened. You turned to Gojo Satoru with a scowl. "What was that all about? Can you stop embarrassing me?"
Gojo chuckled sheepishly. "Oh well."
Nanami shook his head, muttering, "Typical Gojo Satoru."
"Seriously, you two?" Gojo protested. "I was just trying to help Y/N-chan out."
"By pretending to be my lover?"
"By pretending to be her lover?"
You and Nanami said simultaneously, exchanging a knowing glance before turning back to Gojo Satoru for answers.
Just then, as if on cue, another car pulled up, and the rest of the group finally arrived.
