[O]ne week prior...
Two little figures darted across the desolate backstreets, their footsteps echoing against the crumbling walls.
From their tattered clothes and wary expressions, it was clear that they were accustomed to hardship.
"Saki-nee, mom said not to go there. It's dangerous," the younger boy, Kota, piped up timidly, his hand firmly grasped by his older sister, Saki.
She wore a worn pink dress and clutched an old teddy bear in her other hand.
"Hush, Kota. We have to keep moving," Saki whispered urgently, her eyes scanning the alleyway for any signs of danger. The memory of their mother's violent suitors loomed over them like a dark cloud.
They hurried along, Kota's small legs struggling to keep pace. "How much farther, Saki-nee?" he panted.
"We're almost there," she assured him, relief evident in her voice as they reached the end of the alleyway. Before them stood an abandoned building, its windows shattered and its walls adorned with graffiti.
As they paused to catch their breath, Kota surveyed their surroundings with trepidation. The building loomed ominously, its derelict facade a stark reminder of their precarious situation.
"Saki-nee, we're not going in there, are we?" he asked nervously.
"This is our safest option, Kota," Saki replied, her tone firm as she squeezed his hand reassuringly. With a deep breath, she led him inside the dilapidated structure, their only refuge at the moment.

The faint memories of the events from a week prior began to fade, replaced by the unsettling reality unfolding before you.
The little girl, her features contorted with silent urgency, released your hand and pointed towards something ahead.
It was then that you realized she had led you to the same eerie building you had glimpsed in her fragmented memories.
Another cold breeze swept through the abandoned alleyway, sending a shiver down your spine as you followed closely behind her.
As you stepped inside, the darkness seemed to envelop you, shrouding the interior in an unsettling gloom. The air was heavy with a palpable sense of dread, and you couldn't shake the feeling that something malevolent lurked within.
Climbing the creaking stairs behind the girl, you felt the weight of an unseen presence pressing down upon you. The wailing of something dark echoed through the empty halls, sending chills down your spine.
"Arggh."
Instinctively, you covered your ears, trying to block out the haunting sound. Whatever that was.
Suddenly, you felt the little girl tugged at your coat urgently, her eyes wide with fear as she begin to urge you forward.
"What is it?" you demanded, but she offered no response. Her gaze remained fixed ahead, focused on an unknown destination.
Your footsteps quickened as you followed her lead, attempting to uncover whatever mystery she was guiding you towards.
At last, she halted before a room marred by numerous hairline cracks, all leading to a sizable gap in the wall. Her silent insistence urged you to investigate further. With a growing sense of unease, you cautiously approached the fissure and glanced inside.
Your heart nearly skipped a beat as you caught sight of the unconscious boy lying within.
His shallow breaths reverberated in the eerie silence, his hands pressed tightly against his ears as if trying to shut out unseen terrors.
"Y-You want me to help him?" You asked with a stammer, trying your best to ignore the frantic beating of your heart in your bust.
As she nodded silently, her eyes pleading for help, you knew what you had to do.
With trembling hands, you reached inside the hole, praying that you could reach the boy in time.
By the time you'd managed to free the boy from his confinement, another bloodcurdling shriek echoed across the surroundings of the floor you were on, sending shivers down your spine.
You could sense the malevolent presence hurtling your way, its dark aura suffocating.
"Let's get out of here," you urged the little girl, your voice trembling slightly as you scooped the boy into your arms and sprinted towards the exit, trying to avoid whatever that was that you might've awaken with your sudden presence in here.
