[T]he knock on your bedroom door echoed in the quiet morning, and you found yourself expecting it to be Gojo.

After all, it was still too early to start calling him your boyfriend out loud, but after yesterday's date, you were almost certain he'd come by to mess with you, as usual. Disappointingly, he hadn't stayed the night, leaving your bed feeling emptier and colder than you'd like to admit.

So, when you opened the door, expecting a flash of white hair and a cheeky grin, your heart sank a little at the sight of Ijichi instead.

"L-L/N-san. Good morning," Ijichi greeted you with a stammer, his eyes darting around before settling on you.

"Good morning, Kitoyaka-san," you acknowledged with a nod, your voice curt.

"Ah, please, just Ijichi is fine," he corrected, a faint blush creeping up his neck while avoiding your gaze.

An awkward silence hung between you, thick with unspoken thoughts. Ijichi seemed hesitant, almost as if he was unsure whether to say something more or not. Instead, he handed you a package, and your heart fluttered briefly—was this Gojo's way of sending you a morning surprise? Maybe an apology for not being here to greet you himself?

But those hopeful thoughts quickly dissipated when Ijichi spoke again. "This is what you requested last time. The special order you placed has been completed. Let me know if you need anything else."

The anticipation you hadn't realized you'd been holding onto deflated, and you forced a smile, nodding in acknowledgement. "Thanks."

"Of course. Have a good day, L/N-san," Ijichi replied with a respectful nod before turning to leave.

Closing the door with a sigh, you turned your attention to the package in your hands.

You already had a good idea of what it was—something you'd designed specifically for Gojo. The memory of his complaints about his white blindfold not being as comfortable as he'd like came to mind.

Opening the package, you were greeted by the sight of a black blindfold made from a luxurious, sleek fabric. You'd thought it would be more fitting for someone like him. While his white blindfold had its charm, black seemed to suit him better—your favorite color, one that symbolized power and mystery. It just felt right.

The thought of Gojo's possible reaction to the gift brought a faint smile to your lips. You imagined his usual confident smirk turning into something softer, more appreciative. After all, nothing less than the best should adorn the strongest sorcerer in the world.

Now, you just had to find him. It was eight in the morning, so you figured he might be with his students.

Placing the luxurious box in the drawer of your bedside table, you decided to save this little surprise for later.

In no time, you were out the door, heading to the classroom where Gojo usually held his lessons for the first years. "Huh? Empty?" you mumbled to yourself, finding the room deserted upon your arrival.

Next on your list was the training ground.

Redirecting your steps to the track and field area, you spotted Maki and Panda. Panda was lounging in one of the seats, while Maki was intensely focused on refining her spear techniques.

"Morning," you greeted, causing both of them to glance in your direction.

"Morning, L/N-san!" Panda responded with his usual enthusiasm, while Maki acknowledged you with a brief nod.

"Is it just the two of you today?" you asked, keeping your tone measured. No need to make it too obvious you were looking for Gojo.

"Yeah, Toge's on a solo mission," Panda explained, his tone reflecting confidence in his friend's abilities. "He's strong enough to handle it on his own."

"Is that so?"

"Yep," Panda nodded. "And as for Satoru... haven't seen him around."

Your brow furrowed slightly.

"Well, that's Gojo for you," Maki chimed in, pausing her training to join the conversation. "He's notorious for being unpredictable. Never gives us any heads-up when it actually matters."

"Hm?" You feigned indifference, though Maki's words resonated with you.

It made sense—Gojo had always lived as though he didn't have to answer to anyone, and you'd come to accept that. But somehow, you'd hoped it might be different with you. Maybe that was asking for too much?

"And you two don't mind being left on your own? No class or mission to keep you busy?" you asked, genuinely curious about how they spent their time when Gojo or Toge wasn't around, though you also wanted to steer the conversation away from your own thoughts.

"We've got a mission scheduled with Nanami-san later," Panda informed you, his demeanor hinting toward anticipation.

"Ah, I see," you replied, nodding thoughtfully.

It was good to know they weren't left idle, even if their sensei or classmate wasn't around.

"What about you, L/N-san?"

"I've got the theory down for the reverse curse technique," you replied, trying to sound confident. It wasn't entirely untrue—you understood the concept, but putting it into practice was another story. "I had a training session scheduled with you-know-who, but it looks like I'll be bothering Shoko for help today instead."

It was a small fib. Gojo had mentioned helping you a few times, but you didn't have any official training lined up with him. Still, you weren't about to admit that you were searching for him on your own.

"That's awesome!" Panda's enthusiasm made you feel a twinge of guilt for your white lie.

"If you're free sometime, we should plan something together," you suggested, somehow eager to shift the topic and ease the awkwardness you felt.

"Oh? Like what?"

"I don't know, maybe we could try cooking something together and invite Shoko to join. It could be fun."

"That sounds like a great idea."

"Agreed," Maki added, surprising you. A faint flush colored her cheeks, and you couldn't help but think she might be a little embarrassed to admit she was interested in something other than training and fighting.

The idea of the four of you, including Shoko, doing something as simple and ordinary as cooking together brought a small smile to your face. Maybe it was a way to bond outside of the usual chaos and danger of your lives.

"So it's settled then. Let's pick a day, and I'll let Shoko know," you said, already turning to head out. "I'm going to see her now. Catch you later."

"Alright, see ya," Panda replied with his usual cheerfulness, while Maki gave you a brief nod as you walked away.

Your stroll in the direction of Shoko's lab felt uneventful, almost tedious. You couldn't help but notice how quiet things seemed without Gojo's larger-than-life presence around.

As you neared the lab, you caught yourself getting lost in thought, a small sigh escaping before you shook your head, trying to clear it.

Maybe you were just feeling the difference after spending so much time with him lately. His constant energy, the way he always seemed to be nearby—it was hard not to miss that now that he wasn't around.

Despite your best efforts, one last thought slipped through: was he missing you too, wherever he was?

The thought lingered, soft but persistent, as you pushed open the door to Shoko's lab.
