[A] week later, that's all it took to pass Nanami Kento's notoriously rigorous assessment.
Maybe it could've been even sooner had he not been constantly cautioning you to pace yourself, warning about frying your brain to the point where you might never use cursed techniques again.Still, you had yet to fully unravel your own curse technique. Courtesy of Gojo's Six Eyes, your current ability to sense curses and absorb memory fragments felt more like an empathic skill than an actual curse technique.
One might ask why Gojo hadn't already cracked the mystery of your technique. After all, the Six Eyes were supposed to grant him the ability to read someone's cursed energy like an open book. But your case was... a little different.
For one, your energy was elusive, fragmented—almost as if it existed in multiple states at once, constantly shifting and slipping through his perception. Pinning down the exact nature of your abilities was like trying to catch smoke with bare hands.
Secondly, your capacity to absorb cursed energy further obscured your true curse signature. It melded with the remnants of other energies, becoming diluted and layered, like looking at a reflection fractured across shattered glass.
Then there was your empathic nature—the way you absorbed emotions and memories. It added a layer of interference, distorting the purity of your energy signature. Emotional echoes lingered, blurring the line between your own cursed energy and the feelings of others, making your presence even harder to decipher.
Nanami entered the room with his usual composed demeanor, stepping forward and placing the report on Principal Yaga's coffee table. His expression, as always, remained unreadable. A subtle adjustment to his green-tinted glasses hinted that he was about to speak.
"In my professional opinion," he began, his voice steady and direct, cutting through any need for pleasantries, "she's ready. More than capable of becoming a jujutsu sorcerer." He paused, weighing his words. "Though, I'll admit, she's also one of the most efficient personal assistants I've had the experience of working with."His delivery was as blunt as ever, but beneath the surface, there was a quiet respect laced in his words. He didn't say anything he didn't mean, after all.
It wasn't an exaggeration either.
At first, working with Nanami had been... complicated. His meticulous nature made it feel like he expected perfection in every small detail—things that seemed irrelevant to you at first. But by the third day, you'd figured him out, adapting to his pace and precision. You'd learned how to anticipate his needs, and once you'd aligned yourself with his structured methods, it felt like you were not only making things easier for him but, in a way, elevating his efficiency too.
To his right, Gojo lounged lazily in one of the couches, one arm draped casually over the backrest, an almost bored expression on his face—except for that telltale glint of amusement in his blindfolded eyes. He quirked an eyebrow at Nanami's declaration, a smirk tugging at his lips.
"Already, Nanamin?" he mused, his tone dripping with mock surprise. "Didn't think she'd make it through in just a week." He tapped his fingers against the armrest in a lazy rhythm, his smirk widening. "Guess I underestimated her, huh?"
Nanami didn't bite, his expression remaining as flat as ever. "She's shown exceptional control, strategic thinking well beyond what you'd expect from a novice." His gaze never left Gojo's, as if daring him to take this seriously for once. "If anything, the pressure you put on her was unnecessary."
The white-haired sorcerer chuckled, leaning forward just enough to make it clear he was enjoying the conversation. "Unnecessary? Nah, Nanami, it was exactly the right amount of pressure. You know I like to see how people handle a little push." His grin widened, amusement flickering across his face. "But it looks like she's full of surprises. I like that."
The blonde's jaw tightened slightly, the only sign of his growing irritation with Gojo's casual attitude. "There's a difference between pushing someone and trying to break them. She didn't just survive your test; she exceeded every expectation."
Gojo's grin remained unfazed, if anything, it grew even smugger. "Guess I'll have to keep an even closer eye on her, then. You know, just to see what else she's hiding."
