The Consequences Of Death

His mom's throat was slit, her helpless body was covered in blood and thrown away like garbage.

Mathew got on his knees over her pool of blood and held his head with his hand. he rested his head on her chest and brought her closer, he cried like a baby.

God mom! Don't leave me, wake up mom, I want you back mom, wake up mom, wake up!!

The officers try to pull him back,

You stay away from me, you stay away from my mom, you hear me!? She is my mother!!

Couple of minutes later Mathew takes a deep breath, wipes his tears, removes his jacket and puts it over his mom's face as they take her body to the morgue for further analysis.

His eyes still teary, and blood red sees his father standing at the end of the alley, giving a statement to the police.

He walks over to his father, who was too in utter shock. his father hugs him,

I am so sorry son, I was with her, she was supposed to be my responsibility. I am so sorry. she was so excited to meet you, she had been planning this day since last week. She loved you very much.

What happened?

I don't know her phone rang, she said that she was getting trouble getting the signal so she went outside to attend the call.20 minutes passed by until I heard disturbance outside, I went out to check it out then they asked me to identify her body. then you were here.

I promise you dad, I will find the one who did this, I will avenge her death.

Mathew visited his mother's funeral. It was raining, the rain drops hid his tears.

He dropped lilies on her grave right in front of the tombstone that said,

"In the loving memory of a beloved wife and mother"

Everyone one left but Mathew stayed, he sat besides his mother's grave and sobbed the entire night.

He reached the precinct where his mom's case was active, after pleading for the case it was give to him despite the rule which was ignored after he was declared capable enough to control himself given by his experiences and success.

Mathew didn't ate or slept, he worked day and night and examined the minutest of detail.

He lost all hope, two weeks passed by but he was unsuccessful to find any lead that directly led to the arrest of his mom's killer.

One morning while he was staring at the murder board which he constructed in his living room, he found a connection between the previous case and his mom's case except for the murderer's MO.

There was a matching set of DNA in various crime scenes. All he needed was to find a suspect with potential to run the match against.

He had a solid lead, his mother was a lawyer, he started studying the cases his mother was working on.

The most recent case was of a a client whose colleagues and family was assassinated because they were campaigning as a secret group who were revealing secrets out in the light of the day of the most corrupted politicians. secrets that would sunk them right in the bottom.

Apparently the threatened politicians took care of it by killing those people.

In his mom's stash he found an address to a colleague which she knew a long time ago.

Mathew followed the lead and ended up at his house, the man gave him a file.

You don't know what are up against, son. going after this will destroy you.

He said to him.

Mathew left. he studied the file. matching the coordinates in the file and found documents in his mom's computer.

The documents had secrets about the sitting senator, Charles Forbes. Secrets and connections against laws that were enough to execute him.

He ran the DNA secretly against his closest companions secretary, his secretary was a match.

Mathew found the killer, it was hard evidence.

He showed this evidence and explained his theory to the other agents in the agency.

Each of them was shocked, however he was denied a warrant to arrest the senator due to lack of circumstantial evidence.

It broke him, he felt betrayed. no one stood with him.

He decided to take the matters in his own hands, he flew to Washington DC, breached the security system and entered the house of SENATOR Charles Forbes.

He pointed the gun at him, as he sat calmly sipping his tea,

I know,

You know what? That I was responsible for the murder of your mommy and the other five victims and God knows how many more, whose throats were slit by my secretary as I saw them bleed out in my live cam.

You just confessed

Oh my! But will anyone believe you?

I have evidence, I have the file.

Oh that bitch was poking things who were clearly out of her league. She was tough, made it hard, kept fighting, kept calling your name, even after her throat was slit.

Mathew's eyes got teary, everything blurred out,

You won't shoot me, you are the good guy, killing me won't give you peace it will haunt you for the rest of your life.

He pulls the trigger and shoot the sitting senator of the United States right in the chest. he falls on the ground dead.

Mathew runs away before the FBI agents could arrest him. He is marked among the ten most wanted fugitive of the FBI.

Mathew's patriotism towards his country turned into hatred. his thirst of revenge was just not satisfied by killing the senator, he killed his secretary too. From then onwards he has been finding ways to destroy the country that took his life, his everything from him.

He shifted his allegiance to the people who shared the same intent.
