TWO MONTHS LATER

Two months of resting and finally healing completely she gets out of the house searching for a new job and a new place.

I will be moving out.

why? We could move out too.

I don't know;no you can stay as long as you want, it's your house.

are you sure?

I just want a fresh start.

Jane moves to an apartment, a nice one. The apartment have one large rooms, a huge living room, a well built kitchen.

She finds a job at the hospital as a trauma operator. She would do day shifts, get home; mostly order in.

She remained connected with Jed, Alex and Stephen.

Months passed by, her co workers loved her and she was great in her work. She would watch TV at night alone and sometimes call Alex and Stephen over.

FIVE MONTHS LATER

One night she gets a call from her co worker Derek.

Jane you need to come in, now.

Is everything okay? You don't sound well.

you told me you had a friend at the army, they are here.

what the army?

Jane come in now, your friend is here too, he is not looking good.

Jane could feel her heart in her throat, she hurries to the hospital and she sees army men, helicopters which brought the patients.

She pushes her way through the security, her eyes fills up with tears. The guards put her back when Derek comes.

its okay guys she is a doctor, she works here.

Jane comes in

where is he?

in the trauma room.

what happened?

They were on a tour, some missiles were fired the planes were brought down; the soldiers who were badly were brought here. They are about 30 of them, mostly pilots.

oh my god, Jed is a pilot.

Jane enters the trauma room and goes to the bed where Jed was lying unconscious.

His army suit is covered in blood, he has wounds and minor burns to his body, he has a plaster wrapped around his neck and bandages wrapped around his head. He is pale.

oh my god Jed.

do you know him.

he is my best friend,

we need to contact his family.

um..i will call his father.. he is out of town

Jane go home let me take care of it.

stop telling me what I can't, why is he not awake?

Mr. Eckert's wound will heal; it is on the flesh, his head Ct came in clean too, we are keeping him sedated because...

why!?

the crash destroyed both his kidneys. He will stay under the blood filterer until he gets a kidney. He is already on the transplant list, we will have to wait for a kidney donor of his match

what? he can't remain unconscious.

there is nothing we can do

unless I give him a kidney. I am O-negative, he is the same. I will transplant him a kidney.

are you sure?

I know what I am doing, perform the damn surgery and give him the kidney.

prep her for surgery for tomorrow, book an OR I will be operating.

Jane and wears the hospital gown, she and Jed are in the same operating room. She lies in the operating table and looks at unconscious Jed beside her.

ready?

Jane nods and breathing mask is put on her mouth and she breathes in a gas which sedates her. Jane goes unconscious and her right kidney is transplanted to Jed. She wakes up in her room.

congratulations the surgery was successful.

is he okay?

he is stable now, just sedated until we know he could bear the pain of the other wounds on his body. He will be fine.

Can you do me a favor?

sure.

when he wakes up, don't tell him that I gave him the kidney.

why?

he has done things to protect me, wouldn't want me to see hurt for him.

you are one hell of friends.

I guess we are (She smiles).
