-The Devil You Know-

-Chapter Eight: Rainbow, Excitement, Annoyance-

"Do it"

You were currently flying back to Rosenbaum's, now equipped with some more tasks to keep you and Ava occupied.

You landed at the front of Rosebaum's place to see her just exiting, wearing her new suit, as you stared in awe for a moment.

Basically the polar opposite of her old pink suit, greys and greens to help almost blend in with her surroundings, there was some exposed skin, but only in normal places for there to be, like at the arms and ankles.

Ava looked at you as you wordlessly stared, half expecting you to say you weren't really a fan, that it looked to boyish.

"What do you...think?" Ava asked, throwing her arms up a bit.

"You look badass..." You said quickly and truthfully. "Like a commander...or like a war general"

Ava admittedly blushed at this, before remembering why you left in the first place, because you were called up by Homelander himself.

"Oh right uh...what did Homelander want?" Ava asked curiously.

"...You might wanna sit down"

You told her the mission, to apprehend the suspects, one of whom was the girl you had both been tracking down for quite some time.

You were really killing two birds with one stone by having Homelander praise you both and getting to take down the killer.

You had also explained that finding them would be a breeze, since you had some friends who lived pretty close.

So that's exactly where you were headed.

"Isn't it kinda coincidental how you always happen to have some friends who can help us with each situation?" Ava asked, as you both walked to a quaint suburban house.

"Yes...I suppose it is a massive coincidence...but are you complaining?" You asked her with a raised eyebrow.

"I never complain, I'm a sweetheart" Ava put on a massive grin.

"And I...know better than to deny it" You and Ava laughed.

"Anything I should know about them?" Ava asked. She was pretty desperate to befriend all your friends, which was reasonable, you were fucking after all.

"Oh you'll pick up...quickly" You chuckled to yourself. "...You'll get that in a minute"

You knocked on the door, and waited around for a little bit, a little bit was an understatement, for a family with two speedsters, the door was answered very slowly.

Soon the door did open and a woman in a suit opened it, but a woman who was all too familiar, she was the reason they stopped serving sugary drinks at birthday parties.
