-The Devil You Know-
-Chapter Two: Bands, Banks, Boats-
"Okay wow...that's big"
You had finally made it, the first day of the rest of your life, the first day of your new hero career. And your first day with your new super team.
You walked up to Vought tower, seeing a wide road of press and fans eagerly awaiting something, you went up to it but a woman stopped you.
"Uh excuse me, you're not supposed to be here" She said, trying to be polite.
"I was invited here by uh..." You said, digging through your pockets. "Edward March, I'm in the backup hero programme"
"Oh right" The woman said. "Well you still cant go through this way, go round the back and take the elevator up to the 70th floor"
"Oh...ok" You sighed, you were a little saddened to not have all eyes on you, there was that small bit of self interest peeking through, but you still obeyed.
You had to go through a few searches, and a few of the employees recognised you as the son of Captain Solar, but you would soon carve out your own identity.
You rode the elevator up to the 70th floor, walking around a bit before finding a waiting room, with around four other heroes.
You took the only seat available, which had the wall on one side, and on the other, a blonde girl around your age.
You took a seat, as all the others sat on their phones, almost all, the girl next to you was in a similar state of hardly moving.
"Hi" She mumbled out, causing you to look to her to see if she meant anyone else.
"Uh...hey" You greeted.
"You're Captain Solar's kid right?" She aksed.
You went into the job expecting this, to be referred to as 'his son' for the foreseeable future, you were sure the nepotism arguments would follow soon after.
"Yeah" You gave a small chuckle.
"Cool...nice to be working with you" She nodded, looking at you with a small smile.
"You too...Ava right?" You asked, seeing her expression changed.
Being a descendant of one of the greatest heroes' of the age, she'd fully expected you to be an arrogant asshole who saw himself as the leader automatically, so the fact you learnt her name was astounding to her.
"Yeah...uh...Big Time also works...what do you think they'll have us do?" Ava asked.
"Not sure...hopefully its stopping crime though...don't think I could handle sitting behind a desk all day" You chuckled, in a less awkward state.
"I think-" Ava went to say, but the door opened.
