Chapter 53: Story of Isla De La Roca

Scene for Kingdom Hearts: Death Row

The heroes are walking through the town. They see it's a peaceful town. As they walk, Sora suddenly feels something very evil far away. He looks around, and he looks at the ocean. He frowns as he stares out in the ocean. Kairi notices this, and puts her hand on his shoulder. 

Kairi: Sora? What is it?

Sora: I don't know. I suddenly felt something. Like something evil. It's like it's coming from somewhere out there. 

Voice: Wow. I can't believe you can suddenly feel it from over here.

They all turn around, and see a man in his late 30s. He looks at them as he stands by them.

Sora: What do you mean?

Man: Well, I'm talking about the prison on...Isla De La Roca. 

The heroes all look at him, and they stand by the railing. He looks at them.

Man: My name is Bruce. I'm a off-duty police officer. You see, I know all about that prison. 

Sora: You were a guard?

Bruce: Yeah. I was a young security guard, ready to take on the world. I came out of law school, and took my first job as a security guard in a prison. And they put me there, on Isla De La Roca. 

Riku: What's so bad about that place?

Bruce: They say the devil himself had made that place. That rock. Spat it right outta Hell. 

Kai: What do you remember so far?

Bruce: Well, they put a lot of dangerous criminals in that prison on the island. They say it became the swiftest death row in Texas legan history. And that was when I joined the party and the group. 

Flashback, 15 years ago. 

Young Bruce is a security guard outfit is walking down the hall of the prison cells. He looks around as the cons are hitting the bars. He watches as the cons are fighting each other in their cells. He shakes his head at this. Why can't these prisoners just keep calm to themselves? He sees that his captain, John Elias, is not breaking up a fight as a con is beating his cellmate. 

Bruce: (Voiceover) I've only been there for a few weeks. It didn't take me long to get the lay of the land. I've tried to keep the cons from killing each other, and the guards respected me for it. 

Elias looks at Bruce, who looks at him. He nods at him, and he nods back. He stands by the cell, and keeps his eye on the fight. 

Bruce: (Voiceover) Then one night, one of the guards completely lost his mind. He shot one of the cons.

Bruce is reading his book, and he hears a gunshot. He looks up, and looks around. He gets up, and goes to see who fired. 

Sora: (Voiceover) Wait. So that's what started the riot in the first place? Because of some lunatic guard on a rampage? 

Bruce: (Voiceover) Yeah. I couldn't believe it myself. Pretty soon, all the guards joined in. Just started shooting cons in their cells like fish in a barrel. 

Bruce sees the guards shooting cons in the cells. He closes his eyes, and opens them. He couldn't believe what they're doing. 

Ruby: (Voiceover) Did you joined in, too?

Bruce: (Voiceover) No. I almost did, but I stopped myself. I didn't know what was trying to cause me to join in. And when I thought that things couldn't get any worse, some idiot guard decided to open up all the cells one day. 

Bruce is walking in the hall one day. Then, he hears something. He looks, and sees all of the cells opening up. His eyes widen at this. Then, all the cons rush out of their cells. There's shouting and shooting. A con charges at Bruce. Bruce takes out his gun, and shoots him. The guards and cons all fight each other to death.
