Chapter 76: Recite

Scene from Kingdom Hearts: Stay Alive

The game music starts as everyone at their locations start to play. They all look at the screens as Inuyasha, Sango, Miroku, Shippo, and their friends watch. On the screens, it's all bloody, and words appear on them. "Bellman Games Presents, Stay Alive." The blood clears up, to reveal a diary. Everyone looks at it as the diary opens up, to reveal words. On the top of them says, "The prayer of Elizabeth." The group tries to skip it, but can't. Sora looks at it and at his controller as he tries to skip to the game. 

Sora: Jeez. What's wrong with this? It's not letting me get to the game. 

Kairi: I think we need to read that prayer right there. 

Jeremy: Huh? You mean, like a voice-activated video game? 

Odd: No way. That technology's not supposed to happen until either the next century or next generation.

Aelita: But let's try.

Sora: Ok. "Come to me, clouds."

And then, suddenly, the words on top disappear after he said that. Everyone looks in shock and surprised. 

Sora: Whoa...

Yumi: What?

Kagome: How did that happen?

Jeremy: It's... it's like a seance or something...

Lucus on headset: Guys, I really want to play. I don't have all night. Let's do it.

Sora: Ok. Let's go. Everybody say this, right?

Kairi: Ok.

Everyone in their positions at their places start reading the words on the prayer. 

All: "Come to me, clouds. May you rise as an evil storm born to rip them open. Let the cover of night bear witness and destroy those who resist so they shall harm me not. Let the blood of many cleanse me, preserving beauty eternal, I pray you."

One by one, the words disappear, and the prayer is done. And now, the game is starting. But then, something invisible stalks behind the heroes, and their new friends. As they work on customizing their characters, making them look at them, dressed on them, and giving them weapons. As they do, a voice on the game talks to them.

Synthesized voice: Welcome. If you're listening to this, it means you've made a grave mistake. You spoke the words, and soon you will die for it. At this very moment, the evil of this place courses through your veins. You have been marked for death. Your choice has brought you here, to Gerouge Plantation. 200 years ago, Countess Elizabeth Bathory opened Gerouge as a finishing school for young girls...

Jeremy: Wait. Elizabeth Bathory? The Hungarian serial killer?

Sora: You've heard of her?

Jeremy: Yeah. She was born on August 7, 1560. And she died August 21, 1614. 

Riku: What did she do?

Kagome: She killed little girls and young women. At Gerouge. 

Roxas: What'd she do to them?

Yuu: You don't wanna know.

Synthesized voice: What happened to those girls were so depraved that all accounts were stricken from public record. The evil of Gerouge has been reborn. Your salvation lies beyond the gates of this plantation. Your only chance is this: uncover the horrible truth about Gerouge Plantation and stop the evil. But, in order to do that, you must stay alive. 

And then, they get to the game. And their game characters are standing on the road, inside the plantation grounds, looking at the house. Everyone looks at the game, and get a little nervous. 

Kairi: Oh, my gosh.

Odd: Ok, maybe I'm starting to get a little creeped out. 

Then, Sora and Hutch are the first ones to move ahead. Sora keeps his eyes on the game, and then something is rumbling. Then, everyone's controllers are vibrating. Everyone jumps at this. 

Lucus on headset: Did you guys feel that?

Toji: Yeah, we did. 

Sora: Must mean we're getting close to something.

Jaune: Or something is close to us.

Then, something appears to the left. It's two little girls, and they're dead. But they're zombies, and they limping towards the two boys while twisting. 

Riku: Uh, Sora, you better pull your sword. 

Sora: Or, how about somebody do something? Jaune?

Jaune: No, I'm good.

Sora's character pulls out his sword, as Hutch cocks his crossbow. They wait until they're close.

Kairi: How do you kill them? They're already dead. (Sees them about to jump on them) Watch out!

Hutch fires a bow into one of them, and Sora swings his sword, cuts off the other one's head. They both scream as they get hit. Hutch had to shoot his twice to take her down. After that, the two girls' bodies disappar, and their spirit go in the air, leaving behind roses. Everyone else walk to them.

Voice: When fear cripples you, when death's shadow surrounds you, drop a rose. It will help you stay alive.

Their characters pick up the roses. 

Jeremy: Right. It'll give us a chance to escape ghosts we can't face.

Kagome: Yeah. Undead can't cross the twig of a wild rose. 

Odd: And the game's fun. Let's have some fun.
