Chapter 77: Horizontal inferno

The heroes watch as the car speeds away from them, and heads for the trucks. Boan and his friend see this, and their eyes widen. 

Boan: Oh, shoot!!!

Officer: No!

They both leap out of the post, and duck down as the car rams off the road, smashes through the post, and crashes into the back truck, exploding on impact with the truck. The barrels of toxic waste explodes, along with the others on the other trucks. All the drivers are killed. The heroes watch in shock and horror as they see this. Parts of the tunnel collapse on other cars, killing more drivers as more explosions erupt. And then, a devastating fireball shoots out, everywhere. The heroes gasp, and force a protective barrer around themselves, and on Boan, who is nearby. But sadly, his friend wasn't lucky, as he gets cooked alive. The fireball sweeps through the tunnel. The other drivers see it, and stop. But, it rams into them, pushing them or fliping them. Everyone in the cars are getting incinerated. Isaac is on his motorcycle. But then, he looks ahead, and his eyes widen in horror as he sees the fireball.

Isaac: Freaking crap!

He stops, and jumps off as a car flips on its side. He risks it, and runs behind it. The fireball hits the car. But luckily, it doesn't go down on him. He covers himself as the heat is burning him. With the Crighton family, they're in the tunnel. Richie is still playing his gameboy, and Ashley is sticking out through the sunroof, filming herself. Richie looks ahead, and sees the fireball coming.

Richie: Mom! Dad! Look!

Steven turns the car as it shakes. Sarah grabs Ashley and pulls her down. Steven stops the car, and the fireball hits it. The parents cover their kids as the heat is heating up the car. The fireball continues sweeping through the tunnel, incinerating the majority of the motorists within it. Like the prison bus, and Madelyne, who went in it too. In the control room, the cameras that's inside the tunnel are going off, one by one. Tony, Grace, and Norman see this, and are confused.

Tony: What the heck's going on? Why are all the cameras in the tunnel going off?

Norman: I don't know. That shouldn't be happening. 

Tony: Maybe George broke another cable. 

Grace: (Smiles) Funny, Tony. But no, George wouldn't do that again. Maybe some rats have been chewing on the cables. 

Just then, they all hear distance rumbling. They all look at the outside camera. And then, they see the fireball erupting out of the entrance of the tunnel, making a big explosion. They all watch in shock. 

Tony: Gee whiz!

The fireball dies off, but then, the entrance collapses, blocking off the tunnel, and the rumble lands on more cars, crushing them. They see people are hurt. 

Tony: My gosh...

Norman: Was that a bomb?

Tony: No. I remember seeing a truck patrol entering the tunnel. They were carrying barrels of toxic waste. That waste must have been the caused. Hang on. (Picks up a radio) Otto, it's Tony. What's the status of the Jersey side?

Otto on radio: It's been sealed off. Whatever happened in there, it really did a number on the entrance. We've got dead and wounded out here. 

Tony: Copy that. Inform me more of the situation. 

Grace: What is it?

Tony: The tunnel is sealed up tight. Both ends have collapsed. It's a wipeout clear up to the tollbooths. 

Norman: What about the mid-river passage?

 Tony: I don't know yet. I'll get right on it. (To Grace) Grace, you'd better check to see if George and Boan are still there. Call them on the radio. Check to see if they're still alive. 

Grace nods, and runs off with a radio to the restroom. She's now worried about him. Tony rushes off to go check on the Mid-River passage. Meanwhile, in the tunnel, everythng is burnt up. Cars and trucks are cooked and destroyed, along with people inside them. Where the truck patrol was at, a fire wall is blocking off the Jersey side. A T-Rex toy is on the ground, half melted. The heroes, who are still in the barrier, come out of it with Boan. They all look around. 

Kairi: Oh, my gosh.

Sora: All of these people...

Boan: Jeez. 

Inuyasha: So what do we do now?

Kagome: We need to look for survivors, and help them. 

Just then, they all hear coughing. They all look ahead, and they see George.

Boan: George! You're alive!

George: Boan! Thank god! You're okay! And you've got people with you. 

Pyrrha: Sir, what can we do?

George: We need to get out of here. Boan, follow me with them. I'm gonna try to contact anyone out there. 

Boan nods, and he and George lead the heroes through the destroyed tunnel, trying to look for survivors. George talks on his walkie. 

George: Can anybody out hear me out there? Come back. We got a toxic fire. It's burning towards the New Jersey side. (Coughing) Can anybody hear me? The ventilation system doesn't seem to be pulling the smoke through. Is anybody out there? Come back! The New Jersey sdie has completely collapsed! (Walks to a car, and checks on the people in there) Oh, gosh, jeez! Oh, gosh, we got fatalities down here! Can anybody hear me?

Boan: Let me see that, George!

George gives him the walkie. He checks it, and hits it with his hand. He tries.

Boan: This is Officer Quint. Does anyone copy? Over.

There's only static. He sighs, and tries again.

Boan: I repeat, this is Officer Quint in the North tunnel. Can anyone hear me? Norman? Grace? Tony? Anyone? (Sighs) Grace, if you can hear me, listen. I've got George. He's with me. He's okay. 

Just static coming out of the walkie. He sighs, and hands it back to George. The heroes all look at each other. They're back in New York, and now they're in another disaster situation. Looks like they're gonna need more than just their monsters to survive. They walk off, trying to find any survivors, so they can help them. 

Here's the sneak peak of Kingdom Hearts: Daylight. Coming soon in Season 3. A friend of my said he loves Sylvester Stallone's movie of Daylight, so I did this for him. The heroes will be in another disaster, survival situation in N.Y.C., and this time, it's gonna be in a tunnel, under the river. Can there be a time where Sora and his friends don't get themselves into messes like this? But looks like trouble will never cut them any slack. Let me know what you all think of the chapter.
