The promise made but never kept

Chapter Seven

After my mini reunion with Erza, I went straight home.

I feel empty.

I saw my house from a far and thought that my house may not as big as the others but it's cozier and safe.

I reached our home and saw my mom outside our garden.

"Hello dear! How was school?" she greeted cheerfully.

"It was great mom." I say casually and kissed her on the cheeks.

I told her how Laxus, Mavis, and Erza are in the school.

I told her almost everything that have happened especially Erza-chan and I's conversation.

Her cheerful aura turned to sadness.

I hate the part when I'm the one who causes her that kind of sadness.

"Mom cheer up! Nothing will happen if we dread into the past too much. It was a long time ago!" I say giving her quick kiss on cheek.

"I'm so sorry sweetie. It's just that you took it to heart and you refused to let anybody in after that. But, you're right! We shouldn't dread over something in the past" she exclaimed with smile.

Man, she's really quick on her transitions.

"Anyways dear, why don't you go get changed." mom says strictly.

I stretched for a moment and stood up.

"I will." I say as I walk towards our front door and dropped my bag.

I removed my glasses and hair clip.

I scratched my eyes lightly and let my hair fall to my waist.

Then I headed straight to the bathroom and washed myself.

I changed my clothes.

I wore a black sleeveless top and a gray cotton shorts with stars as designs.

"Hime, I've prepared dinner." Virgo knocked on my door.

"Thanks." I said.

"Punishment, hime?" she asked.

I rolled my eyes and walked to the door.

"No Virgo, but thanks for letting me know." I say calmly.

Mom sat down and we ate in silence.

Right after dinner, we headed straight to our living room to watch some movies.

"How's dad mom?" I asked as I stuffed popcorn on my mouth.

She sighed heavily, "He's busy. As always. Same old, same old." she groaned.

We both looked at each other and burst out laughing.

I love being home. It's the only place I didn't have to be cold or emotionless.

My family and friends brings me warmth.

And it was one of the promise I made with him.

"Lucy?" He called as he held cupped both my cheeks and kissed me senseless.

"Yeah?" I chuckled as he pulled me back to reality.
