The promise made but never kept

Chapter Forty Five

It's Saturday afternoon.

It's Valentine's Day tomorrow.

Natsu's been dating Lisanna for two months now.

We barely see each other anymore.

They always hang out.

Deep inside, I miss him.

My best friend.

The man I love.

I was waiting to tell him, if ever he chooses me.

Natsu and Lisanna's relationship is actually hitting it off quite well lately, and I have this feeling that I shouldn't bother them.

So I don't.

I was still debating if I should give him chocolates or not.

"Lucy?" Mom knocked on my door.

"Yeah, mom?" I asked.

"Well, you see... Dad wants to speak to you... alone." She hesitantly stated.

What could it be?

I logged in on my laptop and contacted dad on skype.

"Hey, honey." He smiled and I smiled at him.

"What's up, dad?" I inquired.

"Well you see... You'll be graduating this year... and I'd just like to let you know, that I wanted you and your mom to move back here..." He stated nervously.

"I'd like for you to attend Harvard for college, sweetheart." He continued.

He rarely asks me for a favor.

"What course would you like me to take, dad?" I asked.

"Anything you'd like, sweetheart. We owe Sting-kun that much." He smiled and I chuckled.

"I see. I'll try looking for a course that I'll take. Give me a little time to decided, whether I'll take the offer or not. I should be able to decide before graduation." I smiled genuinely.

"I understand, sweetheart. I just miss you and your mother so much." He sulked and I laughed.

"Yeah. We do, too!" I beamed at him.

"Oh hey, sweetheart. I got to get going, we have a meeting in 15 minutes!" he panicked.

"It was nice seeing you again, Lucy!" he added, smiling brilliantly.

"Nice to see you again, dad! See you later!" I waved and we both ended the call.

I walked towards the kitchen and Natsu came in through the front door.

"Hey Natsu!" I greeted while opening the fridge.

"Hey Lucy! Man, I'm beat!" he groaned and went straight to the guest room.

We barely interact anymore.

All he does is greet me then goes straight to the guest room, or text me that he's going home to the Dragneel's main house since he has a date with Lisanna.

I sighed heavily and decided to go to that meadow.

I wore my fake glasses and placed my hair in a messy bun.

I grabbed a thick jacket from my closet and wore winter boots.

While preparing some flashlights and extra clothes, I texted mom letting her know that I'll be going somewhere but didn't mention where exactly.
