Deep breaths.
I keep repeating it to myself over and over as the minutes go by.
I step around Andrew's body as I rinse my hands clean, scrubbing them until the water runs clear again.

There's a knock at the door.
Keep it together.

I open the door slightly, a bit shocked as I step back and let Kain inside.
Don't let your guard down.
"You came" I say softly and he steps closer, barely able to make out his features in the dark room.
He looks different than I remember.

"Talk Drea. I need to know everything that happened." He says calmly, moving to turn on a lamp.

"Well I was in the kitchen making dinner when-"
When he turns back to look at me, anger washes over his face.
No no no.
I take a step back.
"Stop." He says firmly.

I stay still as he comes close, squeezing my eyes shut, waiting for what he'll do.
I feel his fingers gently brush over my cheek.
I open my eyes, watching his eyes focus in on my skin.
"He did this to you?" He asks lowly. Cold.

Andrew's nails. They must have left marks into my face when he gripped me.
"Yes."
I push Kain back slightly, stepping away from him as I continue.
I don't need him acting like he gives a fuck.

"As I was saying... I was making dinner when my boyfriend came up behind me. I guess I had said something to upset him because he grabbed me and pinned me against the countertop. He continued to twist me around and grip my face while he yelled at me. That's why there's marks on my face. His nails." I take a slow breath in.

"That fucking-"
"I'm not done." I cut him off.

"I tried to move and he slammed my head back against the wooden cabinets. He did it a second time when I tried to speak. My head was dizzy and he continued to go on about how useless I am. I guess I had reached a breaking point. Before I knew it I'd stabbed him with the knife I had behind me. And now we're here." I finish softly.

I try to ignore Kains agitated expression as he walks over to the kitchen, seeing Andrew lying on the floor.

"Did he die quick?"
I don't know why that's important but-
"No. Bled out for a while."
"Good." He mumbles, looking back up at me.

"Not bad princess." He smirks at me.
"You're such a fucking dick." I sigh, already regretting this.

"Yeah, yeah. I have no idea how you got so covered in this prick's blood but you need those clothes off. Now. Leave them in the kitchen so you don't track it around everywhere."

My lips part open,
"I'm not getting fucking naked in front of you. Just help me clean this up and you can leave." I cross my arms, narrowing my eyes at him.

"You asked for my help princess. We do this my way."
He steps closer to me,
"And for someone who just killed somebody, I think you have bigger things to worry about than me seeing you in your underwear.... but I'll turn around. Go shower when you're done."

I mumble an annoyed "fine" before he turns away, letting me undress. I put my bloody clothes in a pile on the kitchen floor before walking off to shower.

I take my time in the shower, scrubbing myself clean of that disgusting asshole.
Once I'm done, I change into some fresh clothes and come out to find Kain on the phone.

"I want this done right. Nothing left behind, understand? Good. Call me when it's done."
Good to know he's a rude asshole to everyone.

When he notices I'm back, he looks over my clean appearance with a nod.
"Good. Come on, let's go. Grab your phone and anything important you need. Quickly."
My brows furrow.

"Where the fuck are we going?"
"You're staying with me while this is taken care of. Now move." He orders impatiently.

"I'm not going anywhere with you- I'll wait while this gets cleaned up and stay here."
Who does he think he is?
"We're doing this my fucking way Drea. You can't be here. I'll fucking throw you over my shoulder and carry you out of here if I need to."

"Please, you're not going to-" I'm cut off as he flings me over his shoulder, one of his large arms wrapping securely around my thighs so I don't fall.
I can't believe this man.

"Fucking put me down you idiot- I'll walk." I sigh, trying to squirm out of his hold.
"Nope. You asked for this." He taunts.
I can feel him smirking.
"I'm not fucking staying with you. No chance." I argue, huffing as he plops me down into the passenger seat of a blacked out Audi.

"So you're too good to stay with me but you'll let me come clean up your mess? That's how it is?" He raises a brow, looking down at me as I slide back into the seat.
"That's what I thought" he smirks as he shuts the door, getting in on the other side.

Thankfully the ride is silent to his place.
I was fucking tired of all his shit already.
I glance over at him as he drives, same cocky look on his face like I always remembered.
He looks older now though, much bigger.
He always towered over me but now he seems even more intimidating.

Stop it.
He's the one who pulled your brother into his world. The reason your brother's in a jail cell.

A frown forms on my face as I look out the window, hoping to get this all done with and Kain back out of my life as soon as possible.

After a short drive, we pull up to a large house just outside the city. There's nothing else around but trees. It seems very tucked away.

"Are you going to kill me out here or something?" I ask, grabbing my stuff.
He laughs softly,
"Rest assured princess, if I wanted to kill you, you'd already be dead."
"Such a delight, as always Kain." I huff, walking inside.

I grudgingly follow him up the stairs as he leads me to one of the rooms.
"Here, you can have one of the guest rooms. I'm at the end of the hall if you need something. Get some rest." I step inside the large bedroom, looking back at him.

"What about Andrew- what should I do about people asking questions or the police?"
God- what was I thinking?

"Everything will be handled. You won't have to think about that man ever again. I promise."
