Breaking Resistance

Chapter 11

I walked into the bar, searching for my friends with Kain looming behind me.
"Holy shit Drea- you look hot!" I hear Maya scream out, rushing over to me.
I laugh as she throws her arms around me, nearly tackling me over.

"Had to look good for my girls." I tell her, letting her drag me over to the bar where a few of our friends were sat.
I look back at Kain before I sit down,
"Why don't you make yourself useful and get us some shots?"
He raises a brow at me, leaning closer so my friends can't hear him.

"You going to behave yourself tonight?" He looks down at me playfully.
"We'll see" I grin, shooing him away to go get us drinks.
I was definitely not planning on behaving myself...

"Who was that?" My friend Lucy nudges me, looking up at Kain as he orders us a round of shots.
"Oh nobody, just ignore him." I tell her
She gives me a look that tells me she isn't buying it but doesn't push it forward.
Thank fuck. I didn't need to get into everything tonight.

The bartender sets a tray of shots down in front of us and my friends take them happily.
I notice Kain's eyes on my the whole time, silently sipping a drink a few seats down from us.
He was acting like if he looked away for a moment I'd be gone.
I know he was shaken up earlier but damn.

I try and ignore the feeling as the night goes on, enjoying my time with my girlfriends.
"So... I hear you're finally single again" my friend cheers and I tense up for a moment.
Act normal.
I smile, telling her yes and hoping she doesn't ask about Andrew.
"About fucking time!"
I let out a deep breath as my friends laugh.

"Well- let's get you out there then!"
One of them drags me out to the dance floor, a smile on her face as she spins me around.
My hips find the rhythm of the music and more of our friends join us.
I haven't had this much fun in so long.,.

I look up to see Kain's eyes trained on me.
There's somewhat of an amused smile on his face, watching me let loose for once.
I continue dancing, keeping eye contact with him as I move.

I suddenly see his expression change much darker, noticing his knuckles turn white as he grips his drink.
I can't understand why until I feel hands settle on my hips, pulling me back to dance against some man.

I look back at him, feeling his hot breath against my neck.
"Hey there gorgeous." He grins
My friends give me a smile, backing off to let me dance with him instead.

He was about the same height as me in my tall heels, dirty blonde hair and blue eyes.
He was cute, objectively. But not my type.

I was about to tell him I didn't feel like dancing with him until I catch a glimpse of Kain's face.
He looked like he was going to fucking kill someone.
That should have been a warning sign for me, but it only pushed me further.
After the countless times he's pissed me off it felt amazing when I could get him worked up like this...

So I started dancing with the man, letting his hands grip onto me as my hips moved against him.
I put on a smile even though his touch on me made my stomach churn.
I wanted to see how far I could take this...

I turned around, wrapping my arms around his neck as his hands glide lower over my ass.
Fucking disgusting.
I didn't show that it fazed me though, continuing to dance.

Seconds later, I felt myself being pulled back and I see Kain grab the man.
His hand wraps around the guy's throat tightly and I step back, unsure what the fuck to do.
Kain pulls the struggling man in close, whispering something in his ear that makes the man pale like a ghost.
Fucking hell.

Kain lets the man go and he quickly pushes through the crowd and out the door.
"What the fuck was that?" I turn to Kain, gaping at him.
"Go grab your drunk friend. We're leaving." He points over at Maya, who was trying to convince the bartender to get her another shot.

And the look on Kain's face told me not to fucking argue for once.
I'm worried he might actually kill someone if I don't listen.
The rest of my friends had gone to get a cab and I go to grab Maya from the bar.
"Come on girl, we're going to head home." I tell her, grabbing her hand and pulling her along.

"I can't believe him- I'm not that drunk." She whines, stumbling over her words.
"Yeah baby I know, come on. My friend is going to drive you home." I tell her.
I ignore Kain's pissed off gaze as we both get into the back seat of his car.

Maya looks up at him for a moment and smirks at me.
"Who's your hot bodyguard?" She asks loudly.
"Shhh, he doesn't need the ego boost. And he's not my bodyguard." I tell her, glaring up at Kain through the rear view mirror.

"Mmhm, whatever you say. He looks yummy." She giggles.
She's lucky I love her.

Kain pulls up to her apartment, and I tell him to wait outside as I bring her up to her door, making sure she got in okay.
I make my way back to Kain's car, getting in the passenger seat.

"You want to tell me what the fuck all that was about?" I ask harshly as he drives off.
"Stop. Just keep that pretty little mouth of yours shut for once before I lose it." He grits out.
Annoying ass.

I sigh, sitting back as we drive back home.
I notice how he's still just as tense, his hands gripping the steering wheel so tight I'm worried it'll break.
Ok I might have pushed a little bit but seriously...

He pulls up to his house finally and I step out of the car.
"Are you done throwing this fucking temper tantrum?" I ask, walking inside.
"Fuck Drea- why do you always have to push me? I told you to fucking behave tonight."

"And I told you you're not my fucking dad. You don't get to tell me what to do." I spit back
"Oh really? Well maybe if you weren't always so fucking difficult-"
He got closer, backing me into the kitchen counter as he spoke.
I fucking hate when he does that.

"Stop fucking using your size to try and get your way, you can't just tower over me and expect me to do whatever you tell me." I yell

He pauses for a moment, his arms hooking beneath my thighs as he lifts me up to sit on the kitchen counter in front of him.
"There. Face to fucking face princess."
Oh.

"You just love to fucking piss me off don't you?" His jaw ticks as he leans down towards me.
"I don't really give a fuck about you Kain. I was just trying to have some fun before you went and ruined my night."

"Oh you knew exactly what you were doing. I don't buy anything else for a second. You saw me. You knew you were pissing me off and you pushed me more. Well you pushed too fucking hard Drea." He says lowly.
"I don't know what you're talking about." I argue, my voice becoming smaller.

"Oh yeah princess? You didn't watch what happened when that man came behind you then? I saw that little smirk come onto your face when you watched my reaction. I could see the gears turning in your pretty little head. You danced with him just to piss me off. And then you let his hands all over you, knowing I was watching."
His dark eyes meet mine, daring me to challenge what he said.

"You're insane." I nearly whisper.

"Yeah? Well you fucking make me this way."
