Chapter 6: seen threats

In the morning, V, Johnny, Ruby, Jaune, Nora, Pyrrha, and Ren were walking the forest path, making their way to Haven, following V as their guide.

"Another day, another adventure!" Nora said, Joyfully.

"And it was a good night in that inn; too bad we couldn't stay longer," Johnny mused, reminiscing about their time at the inn.

"What's on the agenda today?" Ruby asked.

"Walking!" V said with a mischievous grin.

"With a side of...?" Nora asked

"Walking," Ren said

Ruby sighed at the fact that Haven was very far away and they still had a long journey ahead of them. "Haven is a lot farther away than I thought."

"Don't worry; for me, I often ran around Night City, even if I had a car available," V reassured. "We'll make it there in no time."

"Ruby? How long did you think this journey was going to take?" Pyrrha asked.

"I don't know! I grew up in a small area; I've never been this far away from home." Ruby responded, frustrated.

"Right, so, how long do you think it'll take us to reach Haven?" Johnny inquired.

"Maybe like, uh... two weeks?" Ruby said, unsure.

"What?" Johnny said, knowing she was underestimating the distance.

"Okay, fine! Three or something!"

"Three weeks? Are you serious?" Johnny exclaimed, clearly not satisfied with Ruby's estimation.

"Look, whatever," Ruby said, not making eye contact.

As V turned to speak, his leg hit a fence post, making him stumble forward. "Ouch!" V exclaimed, feeling a little pain thanks to his cyberware implants.

He then looked up to see another town, but oddly, on his digital map, there was no mention of any other town nearby.

Confused, V pointed it out, "The fuck? Why isn't this town on the map?" V questioned, perplexed by the discrepancy between reality and his digital navigation.

Nora then hopped on top of a tilted fence post and looked at the town, while Johnny used his digital state to examine the map, which also showed no sign of the town.

"He's right, there's no trace of this town on the map," Johnny confirmed, his voice filled with curiosity. As they continued to observe the mysterious town, V couldn't help but wonder if there was something more to it than met the eye.

"Are those buildings... damaged?" Nora asked, squinting her eyes to get a better look.

Those words made the group go on high alert. They realized that there might be a hidden danger lurking within the seemingly abandoned town.

"We should search for survivors!" Jaune exclaimed.

As they split up, V drew Johnny's pistol and kicked a door open, revealing a dimly lit room with very little furniture.

"hello?" V called out, his voice echoing through the empty room. There was no response, only an eerie silence that sent shivers down their spines.

He looked up to see that some parts of the ceiling didn't seem finished and were covered in cobwebs.

As he walked out, he saw that the others had no luck as well.

"Where could they have gone?" V wondered aloud, his eyes scanning the desolate streets. The absence of any signs of life made him realize that there was something much more sinister at play in this seemingly abandoned town.
