Leila's choice

That night they were all sitting around huge table in dining room. Dylan brought 10 of his most trusting men and Hart matched that number with his. Alongside them, there were Drew, Miles, Emma, Carmen and Leila present. She was sitting right next to Julian on the other side of the table.

Dylan was disgusted seeing her there like she was never apart of their gang. He couldn't even look at her.

-"Me and your boss deciaded that it's in the both of our interest to get rid of Cartel asap." -Julian started, adressing his guests.

-"So we're to leave all of our differences aside and join forces to defeat the Cartel." -he explained.

-"What about Reins?" -Miles asked.

-"We're going to kill Reins once we get rid of Cartel. It'd be stupid to fight them both at the same time. Don't you think, Martin, was it?" -Julian replied.

-"It's Miles." -Leila corrected him.

-"Sorry. Miles.' -Julian apologized, his arrogance still at its peak.

-"I still don't understand what are you doing here." -Miles was now talking to Leila. -"We went through hell and back trying to find you. So you don't mind me asking what the fuck are you doing with this guy?"

-"My fiancee doesn't need to answer your questions. She's where she belongs."-Julian replied instead of her.

-"With none due respect I didn't ask your opinion. I was talking to that lady next to you who was once my friend." -Miles wouldn't have any of it.

Leila fell silent lowering her head in shame. He was right and yet none of them understood that it wasn't as simple as it seemed.

-"That's enough Miles. We're not here to talk about that." -Dylan interrupted their little back and forth.

-"We'll divide the areas which are held by the Cartel between us. I already have men in LA that are taking care of it right now. I need you to send some help there. In the meantime, the rest of my men, including myself will reside in hotel. I suggest you do the same or find some place else to stay until we solve this issue." -Dylan continued.

...-"And I want Leila to come with me." -he said and everyone by that table looked at him.

Julian couldn't allow that, he'd look like a fool in front of his men if he agrees to that and quite frankly he didn't want Leila to be taken away from him especially now that she started to warm up to him.

-"I don't mind you relocating to hotel but no way in hell Leila is going with you." -he said.

Dylan expected that. Carmen was fuming. He was getting rid of her 'cause he couldn't protect her and yet he wanted to take Leila with him.

-"You do understand that they are looking for her because of you?" -Dylan reminded him.

Julian was well aware of the fact, so he remained silent giving himself some time to think.

-"Unlike you, I'll not kidnap her. I just think that she'll be safer with us." -Dylan provoked.

The tension in the room between them two grew and it seemed like guns are going to be pulled out.
Julian couldn't allow Leila to go with Dylan. His honor was at stake.

Dylan was smart, he thought. Using the situation against me. It's a win-win for Dylan. He offered protection and yet didn't gave any orders. He earned points with both his men and Leila.

Julian clenched his jaw looking around the room before setting his eyes on Leila.

-"And what about you, what do you think?"

She shrugged her sholders. Leila didn't want anyone to be hurt in this war. She wanted to choose both of them, but she knew Dylan has Drew, Emma, Miles and Carmen. Julian on the other hand would be left alone if she agrees to go with them.

She also knew that Julian's question was rhetorical. He would never let her leave with Dylan. Even if it was temporary.

If she says yes there is also a chance that gunfight will break out and all of this is for nothing. If she says no she'd give last proof needed to her friends that she indeed betrayed them.

Everyone was looking at her waiting to hear what she has to say about Dylan's proposal.

It was the toughest choice she ever needed to make in her life.

It was also the choice she didn't get to choose.

Because the sound of the gun firing broke the pending silence in the room.
