Leila shut her eyes, a pitch black image before her, the sound of nothing in the air. It only lasted a second but it seemed like a lifetime.

When she opened them again, Dylan, Drew and Emma were already by her side. She was in shock, she couldn't hear a single word around her. And Emma was saying something, she watched her mouth move, worry on her face and nothing. No sound at all reaching Leila.

-"Julian..." -she said once she got her senses back.

He was on top of her. His arms which held her tight were now holding on to her.

The bullet went straight through his back right into his lungs.

The bullet from the gun aimed at her.

He was smiling. How can he smile?! His eyes were focused on hers and she saw the redness of the blood coming to his mouth.

-"Julian..." -she repeated, tears forming in her eyes. The shock of the moment became overpowered by the realization of what just happened.

He put himself between her and the bullet and was now smiling because of it.

-"You've promised..." -he managed to say, now smiling even more. -"You've promised that you'll be the death of me."

-"No, no, no...Julian...." -she cried out loud fighting to keep him awake. Emma called an ambulance.

-"Shhhh...don't cry.-"-he touched her lips with his finger. He was comforting her. How could he comfort her when he's the one that's been shot?!

-"I love you." -he said as he took his last breath.

-"You broke my heart." -she whispered into his ear. -"You killed me."

The ambulance was quick to arrive but the only thing a doctor could do was to pronance his death.

She was still sitting in shock in that place where he gave his life for her, not being able to get up. Emma was sitting next to her, hugging her, trying to comfort her but to no avail.

Dylan and Drew were talking to the doctor as she watched medical staff zip up Julian's body in a black bag.

Just then she managed to look around the room to see where Carmen was. She was gone. Shot by one of Julians man the moment she fired that gun, right between her eyes. Her body zipped up in a bag as well.

She didn't hear what Dylan and Drew said to the doctor and she didn't care about it at all. The story they surely came up with wouldn't be anything close to the truth. But she saw that Julian's men confirmed it as well.

When the cops came she was still sitting in shock. Emma brought her a cup of warm tea and gave her pills to calm down.

It seemed that Dylan managed to persuade cops not to talk to her. It's been an hour now and she was still sitting, staring blankly ahead.

Police collected all the information they needed and left.

Later she learned that they didn't meddle much into it given the history of both Julian and Carmen or Bella Rodrigez, which was her real name.

-"The funeral will be held tomorrow." -Emma said as she took her seat again next to Leila. -"Honey, you should really go to sleep, get some rest." -she calmly suggested but it appeared like Leila couldn't hear her.

Dylan walked in looking at them two before he asked:

-"How is she?"

Emma shruged her shoulders.

-"In shock." -she replied.

-"Take her to her bedroom and please Emma, stay with her tonight, alright?"

Emma nodded her head and helped Leila from that table leading her upstairs.

-"What are we going to do now?" -Drew asked Dylan once they were left alone.

-"We're going back to New York." -Dylan proclaimed and Drew furrowed his eyebrows.

-"What about the Cartel?" -he asked.

-"We are stronger there, our forces, our power...the Cartel can't even compare to us on the east side." -Dylan explained and Drew nodded. It was the truth.

Dylan closed his eyes thinking about everything that happened tonight. He blamed himself more than anyone. He was the one that was stupid enough to bring Carmen back to the states with them and into his family. He was the one that believed her story causing a series of events happening the way they did.

Maybe if he had found Leila back in Costa Rica, if he had saved her back then, none of this would've played out like this. Maybe even Jason would still be alive because then he'd be by his side sooner searching for Reins.

He gulped down the whiskey straight from the bottle.

-"Tomorrow, after the funeral, we're leaving." -he said.

-"What about Leila?" -Drew asked.

-"She's coming with us." -Dylan said.

-"And what if she refuses?" -Drew was concerned now with everything that occured tonight, Leila would want to stay in California, where she grew up.

-"She's not going to be given an option to stay." -Dylan was determined. -"She's coming back with us and that's my last. The Cartel is still after her and whether the fucker is dead or not, they'll not stop until they find her. Once they deciade that you need to die, there's no going back from that."

-"Then we'll hunt them down and kill them all." -Drew said agreeing.

-"That's the plan. And until we do that, she's not allowed to leave." -Dylan's face was firm, his decision final.

-"Well, at least she'll be with her sister." -Drew said.

But Dylan turned to look at him. He couldn't make any more mistakes. He couldn't risk anyones life ever again.

-"She's not going to see Angie. We are going to take all measures to assure that everyone is safe. I can't allow Leila to be brought back into the house with Angie and Jax." -Dylan explained.

-"So, where are we taking her?" -Drew asked.

-"We are taking her to my apartment in the city. I'll personally watch over her and make sure that she's safe until we solve this Cartel problem."

-"So she's trading one cell for another?" -Drew noticed.

-"I was too soft, I see that now. Too trusting, too naive. Letting emotions get the best of me." -Dylan smiled ironically thinking of the last night in Costa Rica him and Leila spent together. -"I even promised her that she'll always have her freedom. It was the biggest mistake I ever did. Jason was right. Everything he did, he did for our own good, he kept us alive, even when they hated him. I'll do the same with her and she's going to have to deal with it."

Drew couldn't argue with that. So he took the bottle from Dylan's hands and gulped down hard drink himself before saying:

-"Then you should get some sleep as well. Tomorrow is going to be a long day."

As Leila layed in the bed in the fetal position, the images of what went down tonight were flashing before her eyes.

It only lasted a second, but it seemed like a lifetime.
